Q&A from 2PM Fan Meeting Revealed
Want to know what was discussed at the much vaunted fan meeting between the six members of 2PM and 87 fans. Well, a list questions and answers have been translated and released by the fan union. Partake in reading the following:
1. Despite Underground having corrected our document of questions and resubmitted them, why have you opened this conference without answering them?
Jung Wook: Park Jaebum has requested for us to reveal his withdrawal at the end of February and so we couldn’t answer the questions. We are opening this conference in order for the members to have an honest talk with the fans.
2. What the fans wanted as communication with JYPE. Why are the members present at today’s conference?
Jung Wook: In order for the members to express their honest thoughts. If only I had come to the conference, the fans wouldn’t believe the members.
3. JYPE announced that the members agreed to Park Jaebum’s withdrawal on the 6th of January. Are there any refutes against this statement?
Members: We all agree to the statement.
4. We would like an honest response as to why the members continued to speak of Jaebum’s name in broadcasts and their interviews even after the decision was apparently made on the 6th of January.
Members: Despite his withdrawal, he is still a good hyung to us. I don’t think it’s a problem to be honest in saying that we miss him. And from now on, if we miss him, we will say so. We don’t think it will be a problem.
5. After the termination of the contract with Park Jaebum, what are you required to do by law?
There is nothing left.
6. Until when is the income distribution active?
There is no fee for the termination of his contract. Income earned up to December completed its distribution in January.
7. Please explain what the company is doing to handle the mental and physical stress that has been placed upon the members and their families with the various rumors that are circulating.
Jung Wook: JYPE is not responsible for the personal and social lives of the celebrities within our agency. We believe that Park Jaebum must take full responsbility for his actions. The rest of the members are victims to this case, while Park Jaebum is the attacker.
8. It is not hard to ask for articles to be taken down and for hateful replies to be deleted. Why didn’t the company take a stance on this issue?
Jung Wook: Honestly speaking, we have never had to delete articles or replies before this issue. However, after the issue broke out, our company has tried our best.
9. Despite revealing that decisions have been made on the 6th of January, the company has been using Park Jaebum’s name for marketing. Please reveal your reason.
Jung Wook: It is impossible for JYPE to control the media and the press. It is true that the decision was made on the 6th of January but we had already come to an agreement to release the information late February.
10. On the official notification, you described the reason as ‘a severe personal mistake.’ Will you be taking responsibility for specifically using the words ’severe’ and ‘mistake?’
Jung Wook: I will reply with three reasons.
1. After this ‘mistake’ occurred, we didn’t want the remaining members to turn into betrayers. The 6 members are just as important as the one.
2. The notification was to all of Korea. We could not lie.
3. The 6 members are the victims and if we did not speak of the truth and reveal it as a severe mistake, people will get the wrong idea.
11. Does Park Jaebum know about the conference with fans? Does he know that the reason for his withdrawal is ‘due to a severe personal mistake?’
Khun: I have texted Park Jaebum recently. He knows that we are holding this conference. He wanted to give us a video recording.
Jung Wook: He knows of the notification, too.
12. In the future, will 2PM be adding a new member or deciding another leader?
Jung Wook + Members: There are no plans.
13. Is there really no chance for Park Jaebum’s return? And if he returns through a different company, what is your opinion on the matter?
Jung Wook + Members: There is no possibility for him to return through 2PM.
Chansung: If Jaebum wishes to take responsbility for all of this and comes back as a celebrity, we will encourage him. However, I think a return through 2PM is out of the question.
14. Couldn’t the company have covered for the severe personal mistake? And, if the members did not agree to Jaebum’s withdrawal, don’t you think the issue wouldn’t have gotten this far?
Members: It’s not something we can just cover.
Jung Wook: We were put in a situation where the only thing we could do was agree. That is why we agreed. If we hadn’t, I believe that the results would be the same.
15. If the controversy last September never happened, would your decision still stand the same?
Everyone: Yes
16. Do you personally control the cyworlds of the members? There are posts that went up after the 8th that have created much controversy amongst the fans. Are they all your posts?
Wooyoung: Yes, I was truly frustrated which is why I wrote it.
Chansung: Yes. I was truly in a state of confusion which is why I wrote it like so. But it has nothing to do with the issue.
Jung Wook: We believe that a celebrity must be responsible for his own personal and social life. We do not control them.
17. What do the members think of the boycott?
Junho: We didn’t care because we knew that Jaebum would return and knew that it would all be solved with his return. But honestly speaking, I would be lying if I said wasn’t hurt. If, after today, the boycott continues, then I will think of it as the fans hating us. We will show that we will be trying our best through our songs and performances.
18. If the severe mistake is revealed to be false, do you realize that you will be charged for libel?
Jung Wook: We only wrote of the truth.
19. Will Park Jaebum be able to receive the income for his 1st and 2nd singles?
Jung Wook: He will have to discuss that and reach an agreement with copyright officials. It has nothing to do with JYPE.
20. Will you continue to use the name ‘Hottests’ for 2PM’s fanclub?
Jung Wook: Yes. Are you saying that the members are not 2PM? No. The 6 members are 2PM, therefore, we will continue to use Hottests.
21. The members were revealed to be on vacation when the specifed date of January 6th was revealed.
Wooyoung: It was our first vacation.
Taecyeon: We are celebrities. We cannot cringe at the people we meet.
Chansung: We cannot meet our families during the holidays with dark faces. What do you want? Do you want us to make a fool of ourselves asking for Jaebum to come back on live broadcasts?
22. Do you know the rumors circulating on the internet? Will you protect him?
Wooyoung: We are not throwing him away but protecting him. We knew that we would regret it if it was later revealed.
Chansung: Please don’t be skeptical of our friendship.
Junho: After finding out on January 3rd, I honestly hated Jaebum. We had always tried our best for his return. However, we believe that silence will protect him.
Taecyeon: I believe that rumors will always disappear after time.
23. Why is there no fee for the termination of his contract?
The other members have a lot of CF, etc contracts but there are none for Jaebum. That is why there are no fees.
24. Please reveal Park Jaebum’s exact contract terms.
Jung Wook: His contract was set for 7 years. We offered 10, then offered 8, and then again for 7 years.
25. Park Jinyoung stated on Golden Fishery that Park Jaebum’s return will definitely be through 2PM. What is the company doing now to hold true to that statement?
Jung Wook: Up until December 22nd, when he called us, he was still a precious member with the chance of a return.
26. What are you doing to support Jaebum in America? Park Jinyoung specifically stated that he is receiving support and training from JYPE.
Jung Wook: We had trainers reach him in Seattle at the end of September. We had always tried our best for his return.
27. JYPE has used Park Jaebum’s name to promote and market 2PM’s 6 membered album. Was this in order to hold the fanbase down or was it really part of a plan to have Park Jaebum return?
Jung Wook: In my heart, he was a precious member from the minute he left Korea to the day he called me on the 22nd of December. However, after the 22nd, things have changed.
28. JYP Entertainment previously revealed that the first official album will have the income distributed evenly amongst the members, including leader Park Jaebum. However, there are many opinions that go against this statement. Please correctly specify the income distribution terms.
Jung Wook: The income earned through December of last year was distributed and finalized in January.

I think what is awful is that it was irresponsible of JYP to release vague insinuations of misconduct on Jays part. Take responsibility for what you say in press conferences, if you can’t back it up 100 percent with the facts, then shut the hell up.
Now, peoples minds are working over time about all the horrible things Jay could of done. Can anyone tell me why JYP had to pull this crap, if they just continued to promote without Jay then eventually most of the fans would of learned to accept it. Jay has not been causing a ruckus or encouraging people to boycott 2pm. He has been living a quite life back in Seattle.
I’m not a fan of 2pm so i have nothing a stake in the outcome of this whole mess, but it just angers me that they are throwing a former member under the bus like that.

No ,i was just saying that their feeling can be understandable. They have do so much for reach their dreams ,so in this point of view Jaebum can be see as the man who as erased all their effort . I hate nobody .In fact,i’m not a anti of any artist since the day of Jay’s departure ,I’ve understand that our words can be too powerful and can hurt . But yes i’m the same soulhead from soompi. Jaebum, did what he did, and it was a mistake but he never threw his members under the bus. In fact he took responsibility and quickly resigned to try to draw some of the criticism from the other members.
What i’m saying is was this really necessary, yes a portion of people will always think 2pm is incomplete without Jay, but the only way to prove them wrong is by continuing to promote good songs and doing great performances without him. Not by trying to tear the person down so that, people will dislike him and accept the 6 members as 2PM.

I have been a neutral fun of so many kpop artists since 2007. but my favorite were bigbang. but then suddenly a group called 2pm came in 08. I didn’t really care that much about them at that time i couldn’t even distinguish them from 2AM. but i still listened to them. i liked AAA. i am not someone who uses the internet everyday so i only watch Arirang and KBSworld which broadcasts shows which are 2-3weeks old. Then suddenly i heard about the withdrawl of jay. And my inner fandom erupted i start looking for updates about the situation and started to know more about them and i started watching WB and i really liked how the guys were carefree.
Then when JYPE announced that they are terminating Jay’s contract and i had a mixed feeling.
1. Are JYPE making up stories to make it easier for them to just end the contract and there were rumors that Jay also wrote about the slave contracts on myspace and that JYPE were angry that Jay broke the rule the members shouldn’t talk about their contract to an outsider.
2. Jay might have actually did a “mistake”. But still i don’t get why the other members act like S***H**** and diss their Ex-leader and disrespect him at least he is their hyung. Where did the respect your elder culture went. Even if he did comit a “mistake” they should have calmed themselves and respectfully answered the questions. And did they say they missed him. i don’t Believe these is the way to miss a person. Right now i don’t know who i should blame for the way things turned out. But i am still not pleased about the way Taec and Chan acted. Maybe they were affected by the “mistake ” more than the other members. At least they should be thankful that Jay told them beforehand not later.
I don’t trust JYPE with their history but i was relaying on the member’s emotion to tell us a little about the truth. I am still not satisfied. Because they overexaggurated. Yawning, Sleeping in the middle of a “fan meeting” . It is a sign that they are bored to death or they’re trying hard to hid their true feeling. i know i am contradicting myself with evry sentence i am writing it is just that i don’t want to beleive what happened to the “used to be best” boy band in korea.

Revealing ’scandalous’ pictures of the members are not going to resolve the issue of Jae’s contract being exterminated and most certainly will not bring back Jae. i think to be honest it would worsen the situation between the members and Jae.
I agree the situation might have been better if the statement about ’severe personal mistake’ wasnt released because less controversy would be present and less people making up stupid rumours.
And as for the members acting ‘happy’ whilst Jae has left, you know they have to live their lives too. What is the use of living everyday sad and unhappy about an irreversible situation. To be honest, if i was onr of the 2pm members and knew about the full situation, I would be upset too, It’s normal human nature to be upset or angry over Jae’s mistakes. But they still regard jae as a hyung that they will miss and love despite his mistakes.

I can accept the fact that Park Jaebum left 2PM.
I can accept that JYP and the 6 members agree to the leaving.
But they are making things worse with by leaving all fans with the million-dollar question:

They could have done a better job to cover him up. A lie or anything. Now it’s like everyone’s all out to find out.
I’d read the fan accounts of the conference, different versions, mild and harsh… that I don’t know who to believe. Thus I don’t want to put a verdict on the members right now.
And fans releasing photos…. that is real bad whiplash.
I just spoke to a Korean friend of mine and she told me that she read most of what was discussed at the conference from certain Korean fan sites and accounts… She said that the remaining members have betrayed Jay and now the fans are even more angry!!
I don’t know what she read or what the other members have said but my friend is sure that 2PM is going down.
I hope this won’t be the case and that the words of the other members were misunderstood.
I suggest some read this tumblr account. AT least he/she understand what is being said in the interview and then she translates it directly. And not just to some “sources” in which you don’t know if it’s actually the truth or if that “source” is really an “insiders.. pfft.

But then I guess if one person is blinded by what she believes in, then, we can’t do anything about it.
Honestly after a few months i can tell you whats going to happen. Everyone will cool down, people will eventually begin to believe jay must have done something extrodinarily bad, and 2pm will comeout looking like heros who had to go through a battle because of an ex-members mistake.
2pm will of course forever have antis as a result of this scandel but not to the extent that they have at this moment. I can bet you this is what jyp and jype is banking on. The man may come off as somewhat of an a**hole but he’s still a business man. A smart one at that. When he released the statement and held this conference he knew exactly what he was doing.
At this point I find the entire situation sad. I do not, nor will I ever, know jay or the remaining six members but as a human being i would not want to see anyone go through what they’re going through. But quite frankly it’s not the end of the world. The earth keeps spinning, and we have to move on. I really do hope all the best for jay. (But if chansung and taec really behaved the way the rumours said they did… well I don’t know it just makes me more sad)

I agree with some of the things she said in her opinion for the conference. But the thing is, all she was listening to was the audio file. She was not present at the conference therefore she could not have taken in the full truth of the conference because she could not see the members nor the fans present. I am not saying that the fan accounts are fully accurate but I believe that there are things that the fans at the conference heard and saw that made them think the way they think compared to the girl who only listened to the audio file.
That’s an interesting point. What could those “things” be though? Non-verbal communication can be misread as well. If the boys acted awkward and came off as self-defensive or dismissive of Jay (not surprising considering how tense the situation is), are the angry fans necessarily justified in behaving the way that they are now?
I neither support nor is against the way angry fans are acting right now. Because this situation is so recent, fans have not had the time to process the situation and fully accept the way things have become. I feel right now angry fans are just trying to find ways to relinquish their anger and they have no other way to do so but to take it out on the remaining members and their company. Fans do not know what happened behind closed doors therefore they are now blinded with confusion that it is the remaining members and the company that are the “bad” guys.
Wow~ Loads of photos are circulating around of the remaining 6 members of 2PM hugging girls, at bars bla bla bla… Fans have gone seriously mad. I just got back from a Korean friend’s place. We listened to some audios and she translated some of the fan accounts of the conference and it seems like most fans were shocked by the rude behavior of the members. They were laughing at the fan signs about 2PM being 7 and just “tsch”ing, yawning too much. One fan even wrote that Junsu either slept or acted as if he was sleeping. These can of course be rumors made by crazy angry fans, I really don’t know what to believe in anymore. Though the audio did not sound very friendly and the photos were a bit shocking to me.
At this point, I really do not want to believe that they were faking everything because it would damage my sanity a bit… They couldn’t be that good of actors could they?

ye i listened to first 40min, not all of it, since im just a fan of their music and i dont really care much for a hours long conference.
but from what i heard, 2pm and jyp were the ones speaking in calm and respectful tones, whilst the fans were being agro. But ye, maybe the 2pm members turned disrespectful towards the end but from what ive listened to so far, its the opposite of what hottests were saying.
