  1. Jen says:

agreed but personally i think ft island and shinee’s vocals are better than big bangs.
and jeez for dancing big bang should be last, they’re horrible!
they cannot coordinate as a group to save their lift and individually only taeyang is good. Beast is better than them.

  2. sara says:

DBSK rules! Well, this list is not a bad one, pretty much true actually

  3. idk_^ says:

FT Island is still active in Korea? I thought they were doing promos in Thailand

    • GEEzer aka teluklitik. says:

      @ everyone.

TROLL = a person who poses as a fan or an anti-fan and deliberately posts provocative comments, in order to start or prolong a fan-war, to cause maximum disruption and arguments, for the sick purpose of self-amusement or hate or jealousy or revenge.

      BEWARE OF TROLLS !

      • idk_^ says:

u calling me a troll? i’m asking for more info here! if you know then just answer the dang question!

        • GEEzer. says:

          @ idk.

          idk ……. lol-joke.
          .
          .

No, I wasn’t calling you a troll. Sorry. I was trying to alert everyone about the possibility of trolls, who like to f*ck-up our minds.

Why did I pick you ? … idk.
….. It’s my random thing, in order not to end up on a “New Comments” page.

I think we are put on a new page, after 50 stand-alone comments.

I don’t know the answer to your darn question about FT Island bc I live in an FT Cave… joke.

  4. jam says:

    DBSK pawns all of them!

    • Twilight says:

They pwn none of them actually. I mean can you get Mickey Changmin and Yuhno to take voice and dance lessons? And plastic surgery for that matter I mean YIKES! I’ve been into Kpop for about five years and I still can’t wrap my mind around why there are so many dillusional whorish fans? Jaejoong and Junsu are the only real good members the others suck major monkey balls :X

      • Kimmieunni says:

I don’t think a majority of kpop fans are whorishly dillusional – there’s a reason they gravitate towards these groups. That said, I think TVXQ is an extremely talented and charismatic bunch.

Do Yunho and Changmin need to work on their vocal control? Yes, but they still top most of these groups, no contest. Who would you have put first?

        • Binda says:

I think that all the DBSK boys have pretty good voices, it’s just that some are better than others (like in all groups there’ll always be the good and not so good singers)

Junsu is definitely the best out of all five, that boy’s voice has so much range it’s unbelievable and he is almost always spot on in live performances. Jaejoong would be next as he’s got a lot of range too, but his tone can be weak sometimes. Still, he’s pretty fantastic.
I can’t comprehend why people think Changmin isn’t a good singer. Granted, he wasn’t the best during their earlier years but he has improved drastically and can definitely hit the highest notes. Not even JJ or Junsu can hit that high. He’s also got quite a wide vocal range as well, when he sings deep, he can go preeeety deep. Just listen to ‘Insa’ or ‘Try My Love’. His Japanese Solo ‘Wild Soul’ was brilliant. He really hit those high notes. I think he’s got the most unique voice out of all of them.

Now, onto Micky and Yunho. They’re not bad singers, just not GREAT. I do really like Micky’s husky voice though (I remember one girl saying it was too squeaky and I was all WTF?) His solo for the Mirotic concert was pretty good. Yunho can sound pretty weak at times, but he too has improved a lot and his vocals can go pretty deep as well.

Individually these boys shine one way or another anyway. But together, when singing as one, they truly shine the most. Their harmonization is out of this world (just listen to ‘Love in the Ice’ or ‘Bolero’) and their live performances are just as good as the recorded song itself (sometimes even better). Essentially, their voices really complement one another and balance each other out.

Okay, enough of my rant lol. I’m just sick of people saying that these boys can’t sing (admittedly, I was one of those people a year ago!) Each of them can, it’s just that some are slightly better than the others. As a pretty huge fan myself, even I acknowledge that.

      • boblicy says:

I think….Yunho, Changmin and Mickey only looks so bad when they’re constantly vocally compared to the powerhouses that are Jaejoong and Junsu. Individually, those three have their own merits. And those who hate on them only have to compare their three weakest to the strongest of almost any other group, and those three beat them, easily. At least their voices don’t make my ears cringe everytime I hear them sing from pitchiness alone. At least when they deliver a song live, it sounds exactly like it does in an album. They’re nowhere NEAR perfect, but I still think even with their flaws they’re A LOT better than some of the groups these days that dare to call themselves “singers.”

      • idk_^ says:

What? They’ve been training for long before you were into kpop music and you think they need to get vocal training again? Changmin can hit perfect high notes that JJ can’t even. all of them have improve a lot from when they debut already and on top of that, they debut as an acapella group, i think that’s plus.

        • mopeis says:

Changmin can definitely hit high notes but I think JJ note in tonight is kinda high. Don’t be mad at me!

        • HiWorld says:

i thought they started as a dance group…
anyways, im not great on the pitch or perfectness of notes, but damn mickey, minnie, and (sometimes) yunho can actually hit really really high (i dont think i can even go that high, and im a girl) notes.. LIVE.. LIVE!! XD

anyways, their acapella stuff are better but when they do dance i feel that they actually are in their early-mid 20’s instead of like 20’s

          • Binda says:

Yes, I agree and supposedly MinHoChun are the ‘weaker’ singers of the group. These guys can all sing well, but when they’re good, they are REALLLLLY GOOD.

I will never get sick of their ‘Bolero’ performance at the Tokyo Dome. Brilliant.

        • idk_^ says:

oh come one they’re all in the same group!!! why are you guys hating on the people in the same group!!!!

          • HiWorld says:

            wait what?? =O
            no no!!!
i am DEFINETLY NOT HATING ANYONE IN DBSK!!!

            T.T

how can i hate any of them 5=1
5 = [only and only the] leader, pretty boy, duck butt, bully, and dog lover = 1 = DBSK/TVXQ/THSK

i just mean that i can see where others are coming from however i still think that they are all awesome.. expecially my hubby..

            O_o [hubby + 4 other hubbies]

      • Insomnia says:

Ah hellllll no. My Micky looks good >:-/. I’ll be honest, Yunho and Changmin’s looks don’t do it for me, but Changmin has his moments. As far as their voices are concerned, I love Micky’s voice and Changmin’s is good. I’m not a fan of Yunho, but I’ve heard worse.

      • annameg says:

your statement kinda contradicts the whole process on how DBSK was actually formed. these 5 are the LEAD vocals of groups (or just solo acts). Yunho won singing contests (it’s just that he’s promoted more on dancing than actual singing.), micky took first place in his audition for singing, and changmin? SHIM CHANGMIN? heck. you gotta be kidding me.lol
dancing-wise, micky is definitely NOT the best but he’s not bad at it (sam-san mentioned his lack of stamina, and ofcourse because of asthma and whatever) changmin is decent, definitely better than your average idol (he’s lanky-looking that’s why).
these 3 are in a HUGE disadvantage to be compared with junsu and jaejoong singing-wise. so ofcourse they’ll sound “bad”. haha

        • idk_^ says:

yeah Micky won first place in an audition but so did, U-Know, JJ, Xiah’s just been training forever, and YES Minnie WON first place in his audition too. plus, he’s been training longer than Micky has. overall, they’re all in the same group but you can’t deny that Minnie gets more singing than Micky.

      • wurl says:

DBSK is amazing since SM took all the best member every group of trainees he had. Thats why members of suju were with dbsk members before they debuted. DBSK is just a lump of talent, SM’s last ditch attempt when HOT, Shinhwa all left.

      • ^^ says:

        looooool
did you just say changmin can’t sing?? ahahahahaha. you’re funnnnaayyyyy
yunho and micky may not be as vocally skilled as junsu, jaejoong, or changmin but they’re much better than the best singer in any other group you can pick out.

if yunho needs dance lessons, everybody else in kpop will be needing them too.

      • Nick says:

They start as a dance-acappella group. Dancing was very important in korea back then. You have to dance in every variety show. That’s why only Yunho did the variety show promotion in the first 6 months. DBSK may not have this many fans if they lack in dancing category when they debuted. And with Yunho’s personality, he didn’t screw the group’s reputation and say sorry later, like most new groups do these days. And in the concert, he’s the powerhouse.
You must be deaf if you think Changmin can’t sing. I don’t know why people only remember his voice when he just debuted. He is the best in Japanese songs for years already, BTW. Watching japanese showcase, he’s the one who do the powerful bridge parts. His voice is clear like a bell.
Junsu has the best singing technique and Jaejoong has the most charming voice.
Only that, DBSK can be on top.
I don’t know the role of Micky. But he is the most popular one in korea, so I guess he’s in the same position as TOP and Dara.

      • DD says:

@Twilight: So I guess you are… a troll….? o-o And why would Yunho need to take dance lessons? He’s really good! I don’t know, but I think that you don’t know that much about Dbsk when it comes to their talent.

Eh, actually I don’t know why you all think that Mickey’s vocals aren’t great. In songs like Bolero or Picture of you he’s really awesome. Even Yunho is really good in Picture of you. Changmin needs voice lessons? o-o Why? I think that the only person who’s voice isn’t that good in DBSK is Yunho, but it’s a natural thing sometimes too. I just think that he wasn’t born with a good voice for singing.

      • hao-sama says:

uhm, hello, say that to the other idols.

and fyi, changmin doesn’t even go on vacation. he uses his vacation time to go on dance and vocal lessons, hence his consistent improvement. all of them are all very hard working, and it shows in their music. plastic surgery? what. i don’t really see why anyone perferctly good-looking like them would need that. they’re perfecty handsome the way they are.

  5. bubbles says:

lol @ DBSK being first in the singing category…… 2AM pawns all in that category.

    scratch that.

who the helll cares what those “reporters” have to say.

    • boblicy says:

      =/

If you have to get all unbiased-fangirliness about it, then I think SG Wannabe pwns 2AM. My DBSK-fangirl mindset declares DBSK as the group with the vocals I adore the most, but vocal talent-wise, I still don’t think neither 2AM or DBSK can compare to the smooth vocals of SGWannabe. Even though both 2AM and DBSK does have their shining moments/songs.

    • Gems says:

I agree with Ellie’s list. I would have put DBSK first for fashion. But it’s also a matter of personal taste. DBSK has a more mature, metrosexual fashion sense these days whereas Big Bang is more urban/hip hop. Nothing wrong with hip hop styles but I’m not a fan of that look.

    • . . . says:

LOL IMO dbsk’s #1 is well-deserved coz AS A GROUP, their vocals flow better and definitely harmonize A LOT better together. can’t say the same for 2AM…

and if we talk outside of kpop, it’ll forever be brown eyes for me !!!!! naul’s voice is ~<333333

btw talking about vocals, 2PM is too high on that list =/

and well, i think reporters are way more credible than fans…

this list makes more sense than the female's one, that one is just =_=!

      • Yun says:

Yeah, agree with that. If we talk about individual singing voice, 2am maybe better than dbsk, but in term of harmonization, dbsk is way better, their vocal compliment each other. Imo, as a group dbsk is in another league, they are simply the best. And what whit everyone said that yunho can’t sing, just watch their tour, his voice was better live.

    • annameg says:

i want to see 2AM sing and dance to “O” live with a band after 2 hours of intense dance numbers.

    • peacelovewar says:

2am over dbsk in vocals? are you kidding me? i’m not even a fan of both groups but i pretty much like them just the same and i still think DBSK is the best in terms of vocals. no offense, but DBSK’s ballads are much more challenging than 2am’s.

  6. Syla says:

    Totally agree,,
Erm,, I’m not a fan but why MBLAQ didn’t get into any categories? I thought their dancing is just fine,, well rather than FT Island,, which definitely is not a dance group..

There’s a slight argument in my head when it comes to TVXQ n 2AM in vocal department,,, I’m a cassie but 2AM did amaze me with the strong vocal and skillful acapella performance,,
Split the rank into each of the members and there would be more difficult one,, but as for me :

    1. JoKwon (yes, he made it to my top list in a few weeks)
    2. JaeJoong
    3. JunSu (DBSK)
    4. ChangMin (2AM)
    5. KyuHyun
    6. TaeYang
    7. YeSung
    8. JunSu (2PM)
    9. HongKi *OMG,, how can he ended up down here??*
    10. RyeoWook

Don’t blame me for being all too biased… hehehe.. i can’t help but come up with it when the group vocal rank revealed.. ^-^

  7. mopeis says:

    DBSK!

  8. mopeis says:

2AM are really really good singers but DBSK can sing different styles and sing while they dance so I think they deserve first place but I don’t mean it like 2AM doesn’t and I really hope you guys won’t make fan war.

    • low06 says:

That’s a good point! I was thinking to myself “hm doesn’t 2am have better vocals as a whole? Because all the members are on the same skill level, unlike DBSK.” But when you pointed out that 2am doesn’t sing and dance but DBSK can then I was like “OH YEAH DBSK should get first!” lol
I am not even a fan of them but if DBSK can manage to sound that good while dancing, then they do deserve first :)

      • annameg says:

        i totally agree. lol
they don’t make me CRINGE like some other groups that try so hard to sing live AND dance but fail….
        <3 DBSK

  9. Kimmieunni says:

BIGBANG is #4 and SHINee is #5… I’m so confused :(

When you look at it SHINee has a progression of amazing photography (plus Taemin, that boy is something else) but BIGBANG really just has Taeyang doing his popping and locking routine when somebody accuses them of weak dances.

Why isn’t MBLAQ on the Dancing List? When you have Rain producing your stuff, you bet you’re going to have some pretty involved choreography.

  10. Gems says:

Kinda off topic but why didn’t the girl groups have rankings for singing? That’s a pretty important ranking to miss….

  11. boks says:

I guess i wasn’t into k-pop when dbsk was having their hay day. But w/ all the trouble they’ve had this year plus the fact they weren’t really active in ‘09…..i don’t know if i’d rank them #1 overall…just due to inactivity (which i know isn’t their fault, but it’s just that state of things)

    • kiehl says:

me too. i only came to learn about kpop a year ago. nevertheless i was impressed by the amount of talent these boys have, notably dbsk and big bang. and i do agree with many others that it is unfair to compare these 2 giant groups.
really cant compare apples to oranges… i appreciate the fact that they are different, more so.

    • funkyidiot says:

It’s because they are legends. Like a Beatles / Michael Jackson thing.. No one ever attained the heights of success they did, and they can clearly see no one in future can reach to half of that success too. So, they will remain no-1 even if it’s 5 years in to the future.

  12. HiWorld says:

being the cassie i am obviously DBSK pwns everyone handsdown.

lol, but 2PM wuld def be #1 in dance

and vocally id say 2AM & DBSK are the same however i’d still choose DBSK because.. i just wuld XD

as for fashion, my kpop love started with Big Bang i like their hip hop stuff and some of their designer cracks, but i’d still give that to dbsk cuz have yu guys seen dbsk’s airport pics?? they always wear something fashionable, where areas GD always makes some.. okey a lot **gets bricked** of fashion eewwss tho i must admit he does make life interesting.. =)

    so overall = DBSK
    then
    BIG BANG!!!!<3

    • Alfred says:

If I had to take a airplane between 2 countries every other day for a few months I’d go in my boxers and a t-shirt too. Comfort > fashion in that sense. I just like how with bigbang they could have the same theme’d clothes but noone looks the same. other groups look like a pack of beers all wrapped in the same label.

      • HiWorld says:

lol, but no.. i mean i have just recently been getting into dbsk… okey well a bit over two three months?? and well, they have this web sharingyoochun wordpress or sumthing and i was checking their pix from the airports and they always wear stylish clothing, and i sooo agree with yu on the comfort > fashion.

so thats why dbsk gets my points, and well.. anything looks good on top and tae but gd somehow ruins it.. sometimes..

      • Nick says:

Of course they have obviously height differences.

      • hao-sama says:

erm, dbsk does that moreso than big bang. yet they’re still fashionable.

    • dbsk says:

      CASSIES !
      DBSK PWNS A$$ <3

      • HiWorld says:

        WEBFIVE!!

**as in high five over the net XD **

btw the reason that i wuld also give the vocals to DBSK is bcuz they sang over 25+ songs, (dance numbers incl) all LIVE + micky was sick.. and they still managed to pull off “love in the ice” beautifully!

  13. SS501! says:

Wow I’m happy they’re even on that list since these days…. I’m pretty sure it’s DSP’s fault… the attention is on Kim Hyun Joong and not his group…
So wow … it surprised me pleasantly..
really liked them in their Deja Vu days bt not so much now sadly

    • kiehl says:

couldn’t agree more. the other members need their time of fame too.
right, and their tattoo sleeves really didnt work for me…

  14. bubbles says:

shinee definitely deserves to be higher on some lists
they totally get more public recognition than 2am
and shinee below big bang in dancing??? REALLY NOW?

    • pop says:

yea who wants to see 5 girls dance

      • lol says:

        ^haha lolololol

      • HiWorld says:

loool.. kinda true but dude that lil childs got some nice moves.. even if hes a girl.. i mean even if shes a boy.. i mean…
        uugghh w/e she/he is.. =)

        • Ari-chan says:

even tho they look like that, u gotta admit they dance more than big bang

          • HiWorld says:

            well, i kinda expected cuz
            1. theyre from sm
            2. big bangs “hip hop” and from yg.. yg artists barely ever dance lol

anc c’mon hu doesnt wanna see taemin do his crazy gurly dancing…

but then.. i tink i’ll go with the sun’s floor humping XD

          • fat says:

of course SM whips them if they’re not in sync like mindless clones of each other.

    • kisu says:

yea totally agree with shinee needing to be higher on the dancing skills! their choreography is complex and key and taemin are wicked dancers.

i think 2pm just got no. 1 for the stunts they do. it’s flashy but… and does big bang even dance? yea taeyang does but as a group the choreography lacks.

so not hating on these groups ’cause i’m such a fangirl of both but shinee is awesome at dancing.

  15. ^^ says:

Big Bang is number 3 for vocal skills……..what??? were these reporters on crack?? the only ones who can actually sing in that group is Daesung and Taeyang, but they’re still not as good as other groups.

i WOULD put Ft Island higher…but the only one singing that group is Hongki…..
SHINee should be a bit higher in vocals…they’re definitely better than Big Bang >_>

dancing: 2PM first, i’m fine with that…….but lol at SuJu for getting number 3 on dancing…that’s just weird. they only have a few okay ones in that massive group. i think BEAST should be higher in dancing…they’re pretty good.

fashion….that kind of depends on the viewer’s taste.
in the past (like maybe 7 years ago) when saggy pants, over-sized t-shirts or whatever hip-hop styles were in fashion, then yeah, i’d choose Big Bang style cause i liked that.
not anymore. now i prefer the more mature style…like semi-formal stuff and SUITS XP plus TVXQ is tall too so suits look damn-awesome on them muahahaha

    • HiWorld says:

not hatin on yur choices for vocals but tae and dae have amazing vocals, but TOP’s got this crazy BAMF rapping, and sumtimes gd steps up his game, i thought that baby panda (seung ri) wwas always “the other guy” but have yu seen him do the musical thingy.. i was actually amazed. =)

      • annameg says:

not hating. just saying that like what ALOT of other people have already mentioned regarding GD or TOP:

we can’t really use the they’re-THE-rappers-in-the-group-so-it-doesn’t-matter-if-they-can’t-sing-for-their-lives-thing anymore since CL came into the picture.

with that, i can say that tae and dae are GREAT singers. i won’t fight for the other 3 though.

        • pop says:

well GD and TOP have been rapping for lik 10 years they do it cuz they like it.
Unlike some other idol members that were made to be rappers cuz they can’t sing.
They can sing alright for rappers but GD needs to stick to rapping.

        • ^^ says:

i never said tae and dae arent great singers. they are. but there are other people from other groups who are even better :]

        • HiWorld says:

i wont fight for the other two..

soryy im irresistably in love with TOP XD
theres just something about that face of his..and the voice.
          XD

          soorrryyy ill stop fangirling now..

**get out TOP get on top.. i mean OUT!!**
          :P

      • lol says:

        top yes. gd no.
        seungri…ehh…maybe :P

    • neutornator says:

      TVXQ IN SUITS
HOMG YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH
      *dies of tall-dark-and-handsome syndrome*

  16. lol says:

tvxq here, tvxq there, tvxq this, tvxq that bla bla blehh!!!!
im tired of seeing that.i know they are popular and whatnot but comeon theyre not gods they were human until all of them got plasticXP

as for big bang i dont care what rank(s) they place as long as theyre active that’s okay for me^^

shinee should have been #2 in dancing skills

    • LMAO says:

well, FYI they’re not on top of every list just because they’re POPULAR lol

    • boblicy says:

LOL. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen such an ignorant troll/hater. It’s entertaining as heck to see one of ya once in a while. ;)

    • lol says:

      lol
they’re on top of lists for a reason.
and as far as i’m concerned, none of dbsk ever got plastic surgery. if they did it would be really obvious (like three of the guys from ss501).
i pity you for not being able to open your narrow mind a little more.

    • idk_^ says:

wht do u mean plastic? who of DBSK got their face plastic huh?

    • Nick says:

      In denial much.

    • Binda says:

I’m pretty sure TVXQ are all natural. When you compare their younger photos with how they look now, they still look pretty much the same. However, I do think (emphasis on the word THINK) that Jaejoong may have had his eyes done.
So yeah… You certainly can’t deny that TVXQ ARE talented. I watched one of their Japanese concerts once and was blown away by how powerful their vocals were. In fact, their vocals were so good that I thought they were lip-syncing! They definitely deserve all the success and recognition and most certainly beats every other group hands-down (vocal-wise). I can’t think of any group that can sing AND dance as well as the TVXQ boys.

    • huh? says:

Plastic surgery? Are you serious? Were you born with your brain too tightly compressed?

  17. Momopuff says:

    Haha. “income” ….well for SME.

  18. Ehh. says:

I wouldn’t place Big Bang above SHINee for vocal skills. Out of the 5, you have Taeyang and Daesung who can actually sing. Seungri’s a wannabe; GD’s admitted that singing’s not his forte; TOP … just listen to Lollipop, and then tell me that’s good singing.
As manufactured as Kpop and SM artists are, SHINee can actually sing, like DBSK. It’s surprising to say the least.
As for dancing, SHINee should be right behind 2PM, even above DBSK. If only they weren’t so girly. lol
Fashion sense… the groups are all weird, but Big Bang should not be #1. YG has the idea that looking retarded and out-there is fashionable.

    • peacelovewar says:

‘Fashion sense… the groups are all weird, but Big Bang should not be #1. YG has the idea that looking retarded and out-there is fashionable’

um yeah, but then u see 2pm wearing masks like how TOP wore it before, Taeyang started the mohawk and jacket trend during the Sunset Glow days, GD and his blonde hair( many did it before yes, but GD made it a hit), GD again with his heartbreaker clothes…somehow i see some dudes wear what he wore on MuBank…

      hm.. what else?

They may look ‘retarded’ like you think but BB’s definitely a trend-setter.

  19. w. says:

Undisputable fact tt TVXQ! wins hands down in terms of everything :)

Was very very super-duper surprised TT BB won Shinee in terms of dancing skills.. i don’t even see a solid choreography in BB songs!!

There should be a section on rapping skills in which im sure BB will top the list~~

    • Alfred says:

Thats why BB got atleast #3. Without the “solid” choreo you want to see they still bring down the house. Where they don’t have to all do the same moves and the show looks damn great every time

  20. Wonderland says:

actually i think this list is pretty dead on. All of my groups are pretty high up on the lists too. < 3 3

  21. JSKPaul14 says:

i think of all the lists i think SHINee got snubbed the most. but then again they are the youngest group out there and already making a name for themselves. i could see them as potentially succeeding DBSK in the future. i mean id basically switch out big bang for SHINee in every category except recognition and fashion but thats about it.

DBSK has a lot of fan support and they had Mirotic and wrong number but honestly from a korean perspective they havent been much a force in the korean market especially the past year. to me they are good and represent kpop well but they are not the best vocally or dancing honestly.

i know that SHINee doesnt get a lot of love from this site but they are really good actually. and yea its ok that u dont like their prettiness.

    • mischa says:

DBSK not the best vocally? Ever heard Junsu and Jaejoong sing? I recommend ‘Love in the Ice’, Japanese version. DBSK as a group is like the Beatles (or even Backstreet Boys for more current comparison). They don’t all have the best vocals, but the songs they sing are on range with their singing abilities. So their singing never looks forced, because the high notes are usually left to those who can actually reach them.

Their dancing is not on par with other groups…but they are good dancers.

I’ve said in another thread, 2AM is a vocal powerhouse and can blow other artists out of the water…except Junsu and Jaejoong.

With SHINee it’s too early to tell what heights they can reach. Never really been interested in them, but that’s just me.

    • maldita says:

I totally agree on SHINee. I expected them to be a lot higher in these polls, especially on the dancing list. 2PM beating DBSK in dancing is just a total WTF moment for me. Just because they b-boy and do flashy acrobatics doesn’t mean they’re really good dancers. They’re normal choreography makes me facepalm every time I see them live.

Anyway… when SHINee first came out, I dubbed them “Little DBSK” in my head because they can sing and dance really, really well. They’re awesome performers, too.

All the potential is there, and they’ve been improving like crazy, especially Taemin. The kid’s voice is sounding like a hybrid of Jonghyun’s and Jaejoong’s voices. I’m really looking forward to SHINee’s success in the future. I doubt they, or anyone for that matter, will top DBSK’s success, but they can come close. =D

      • chae-rin says:

i totally agree with you. the one grp that got me interested in kpop was DBSK. and they are still so incredible right now. they are one of the rare idol grps that can sing AND dance and each one has his/her own talent. SHINee to me are the ones to watch as well, cause if they do a little image tweaking and maybe when they are more grown up and manlier, the image change would be interesting. cause like dbsk, they have 2-3 vocal powerhouses, and the rest of the team hold up with the rapping and the dancing. my heart akways pounds when i see both these grps perform, esp DBSK. and shinee should be higher up in more lists.

and i totally agree with the 2pm dancing. i was really anticipating their boomboompow thing at gayo daejun but half of the choreo was just lame. just cause they have muscles and somersault all over stage means they can dance? seriously?? their dancing doesnt move me. their singing is just not there at all. in fact more ppl in suju can sing btr than 2pm.

    • lol says:

and yet they can still top multiple sale lists everywhere from being inactive….interesting =]

    • annameg says:

they didn’t get the same “force” as they did in 2006 because the market today is aimed more toward the girl groups and SME gave them shitty songs (and promotions). they, ofcourse, know that no matter how crappy the songs are, if its dbsk then its gonna sell.

nobody said they’re THE best vocally or in dancing (maybe its the IMO’s moments). it’s just that they’re BETTER than most of the “popular” idol groups nowadays.

and i agree with SHINee. SME should just give them one good song and they’ll be even bigger than those overhyped groups.

      • lol says:

        replay was good.
        they fizzled after that.

        • kiehl says:

agreed. juliette was… i just don’t like as much.
despite not knowing what it actually means, ring ding dong is kinda cool..

          • ^^ says:

whoever composed ring ding dong was on crack

          • Kimmieunni says:

It’s supposed to be like… the ringing of your heart when you see your love.

Does that make any sense at all lol?! And to have this “ring ding dong” riff set to a bunch of bongo drums. I’m entertained by it, but it doesn’t mean I get it.

          • chae-rin says:

totally agree. i reallllyyy liked replay. it was good, minhos rapping sounded good, the vocals were really good. then juliette was.. idk didnt like it. ring ding dong was i dunno, i just laughed my ass off when i first heard it on music bank. seriously, ur heart goes ringdingdong when u see someone u like? =/ totally dont get it. like the beat, the image and all. but not appreciating the autotune and whatnot they used in the song. i couldnt even make our keys or onews voice half the time cause of it. replay was real singing.

i will wait for a btr song from them. they have the potential to pwn alot idol grps asses.

  22. mischa says:

At least this ranking seems more factual than the females’ rankings, and you can actually see why DBSK ranked mostly #1. Those boys are not number 1 for nothing. They’re a complete package…all 5 of them. Very charismatic, professional, and talented. Changmin can hit high notes, but he doesn’t have complete control over it, unlike Jaejoong who is very versatile. That’s why many people say Changmin is not very good. His falsetto can sometimes be off-pitched. Yunho is a good singer, not great. Same for Yoochun.

But all that doesn’t even matter because as a group, DBSK’s harmonization is perfect. Their vocals and dance skills complement each other. They seem to know what works best for them, and showcase their vocals to THEIR highest potential. “Love in the Ice” will always be my fave DBSK song.

    Gods of the East, y’all.

Big Bang is really the only group worthy of being the “next DBSK”. All 5 are equally talented, but they also complement each other and make up for what other members lack.

    • JSKPaul14 says:

i wouldnt group big bang and dbsk together they are totally different in almost every way. and i agree that dbsk is good i just dont consider them “gods of the east”. they have good songs and choreography but truthfully they arent that great live.

if i had to rate who sounds best live vocally i would say obviously 2am then big bang then shinee.

and what was wrong with the girl rankings anyways they seemed fair to me?

      • HiWorld says:

lol, not meaning to bash yu.. but the girl groups.. no just no (not that i dont like snsd or anything but some categories just werent meant for them)

as for dbsk singing live.. ummm.. have yu seen their the secret code tour @ tokyo dome? yoochun got sick right before it, and love in the ice was their last song and he was still AMAZING! they sand over 25 songs and still had the same, okey well almost, the same pitch from their recorded versions. they are actually soooo good, if not great (and especially hell better then many boybands of today) live

        • GEEzer aka teluklitik. says:

          @ HiWorld.

Not hating or anything, but fyi you have made a total of 9 comments on this one article… lol-joke.

          DBSK,……. hwaiting !

      • lol says:

….have you ever watched/listened to DBSK sing live before?
if you can put Big Bang in front of them, it’s obvious you havent…
2AM does sound good though. SHINee not so much.

        • JSKPaul14 says:

actually i have and they really arent that special. if anything they are average. i say that big bang are better not because i like them (i dont like YG) but because they have performances that are really close to their recordings so they sound good live. 2am only sings so yea if they werent the best then that would just be a WTF moment. SHINee i put up there because they have basically 3 great singers and 2 average ones. i know that they cant rap but their genre is R&B style so i would expect them to be strong vocally. Jonghyun has a extremely powerful voice i would rate up there with Wheesung, Kim Tae Woo, and Hwanhee.

          • lol says:

well we’re all entitled to our own opinions.
            i watch bb live too.
and those MR videos where they take out all the background noises/music.
their live vocal performances are nowhere near their recordings.
i dont know what you watched but if you say they’re really close to their recordings, they’re probably lipsyncing.

shinee…i always thought onew was a better singer than jonghyun but that’s just my opinion. key’s average, but minho and taemin needs to work more.

          • ??? says:

jonghyun is NOT on the same level as kim tae woo or hwanhee LOL
maybe yes with wheesung coz IMO his voice isn’t that great *sorry*
idk about JH, i mean, yes , he has an amazing voice but it just feels like he lacks something… and i found his voice to be annoying most of the times. i like onew’s better but onew’s voice is pretty average =/

and idk about shinee having 3 great singers and 2 average ones. i’d say it’s ONE great singers, 2 average and the other two… just stick to dancing

          • chae-rin says:

yeah jonghyun has a powerful voice. but it seems too fierce sometimes i dunno. just too strong it puts me off =/ onew is not bad. but he sounds rather thin at times and can get drowned out by others voices or the background music. key is not too bad. but hes behind onew and jh. mh and tm need to work more imo.

i see the potential, but it really depends on how sme develops them and what kinds of songs they are given. they might keep growing or they might just always be average. so just have to wait and see.

      • Binda says:

Whoa, whoa, whoa. You did not just say that DBSK aren’t great live. Please go and watch the ‘Bolero’ and ‘Love in the Ice’ performances from their Tokyo Dome concert (don’t worry, it won’t take too much of your time!) and if you still think that… then there’s something wrong with you lol.

I never used to think that they were that great either, but then I watched one of their live performances of ‘Love in the Ice’ and it completely blew me away. These boys are GOOD. In fact, they’re better than just GOOD. They’re bloody fantastic. Throughout their Tokyo Dome concert they were still able to maintain the same (if not exact, but really who can!) tone and pitch to that of their recorded versions. And this was from both singing AND dancing for over 2 hours.

I’d say the only other group that can match DBSK on vocals would be 2AM. But not Big Bang, they’ve got an entirely different genre of music altogether. Plus, the only ones that can really sing are Taeyang and Daesung. Seungri is getting better, but he’s still got a long way to go.

      • Ush says:

your entitled to your opinion, but imo dbsk are fantastic live. I used to think they were lipsyncing because it sounded so close to the CD.

I definitely do think their japanese songs show off their vocals much more than their koreans songs do so if you have only listend to their koreans songs, I can understand saying they sound average live, which I disagree with. You should definitely listen to bolero and love in the ice tokyo dome. Heck all there performances there are amazing. tvxq imo deserves to be no.1 in vocals. Imo all 5 can sing, some better than others. I strongly disagree with the person who said min, chun, and yunho can’t sing. These 5 harmonize extremely well and when they come together, imo beat the other male groups in terms of vocals. i wish they would be more recognized as an acapella group. Japan does, shame their own country doesn’t.

  23. Hikari says:

I totally agree with DBSK being the best<3 But SHINee needs to be higher up there!!!

  24. Heheheh says:

Well personally I like BB’s vocals much more than SHINee’s. Seungri’s actually pretty good [@ the recent big show, he improved A LOT].

SHINee ain’t bad or anything, but Minho / key can’t rap for shit and they’re pretty sucky at singing. Not sure about Taemin because I really don’t pay attention to him.

I also don’t really see the charisma in SHINee as I see in Big Bang / DBSK. Even if DBSK / BB sing like shit they sing it with so much confidence and power that I personally go holy shit [though I've never really seen either group screw much... much]. But SHINee there mistakes are much more noticable.

    • Heheheh says:

      screw up*

      • chae-rin says:

yeah like someone up there said. in BB and DBSK, each one has his own individual charm and talent. and they complement each other well. while their stage performances are very charismatic and always make my heart really pound. shinee still lacks that oomph and the stage presence.

  25. Jellyisabean says:

AWW i was really hoping 2pm would top more lists.
    oh well they’re number 1 dancers. =)
    BIG BANG! <3
    2PM <3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  26. Ahra says:

I’m not going to comment on anything but this:

2PM over SuJu for vocals… wat.

    • chae-rin says:

exactly. half of 2pm cant even sing. voices i appreciate are junsu and maybe wooyoung. in suju, same thing but KRY pwns anyone in 2pm in my opinion.

    • Lynnie92 says:

LOL, it’s the only thing that catches my attention.
SuJu isn’t very good at singing as a whole group, but KRY pwn every of their songs and they have 3 other decent singers, not to mention Hyuk and Shin Dong are considered as “rappers” so they don’t really sing. While in 2PM, well, there’s a reason for me not to like their songs LOL.

  27. deeds says:

2pm ranks highest for dance only and the best dancer in the group (=jaebum) is GONE! please come back soon, jaebum!

  28. m says:

    Fashion Sense
    #1 Big Bang

    ha
    no.
    -_-

  29. peacelovewar says:

i agree with ellie’s list. especially the dance ans fashion category.

  30. Ji says:

sorry but i couldn’t bring myself to like DBSK..but then..who cares about my opinion ~

  31. 123grr says:

Big Bang is like 2ne1 in the dancing department, I mean most of the members can dance but they don’t really focus on it. I think YG groups don’t really put much effort on dancing, I’ve always noticed that they just do more on being spontaneous and establishing a strong stage presence. That’s why when you watch them somehow you still get captivated and entertained. Shinee is like f(x) — huge potential but the songs and concepts are most of the time forgettable and could only attract attention for a short period of time. Can’t say much about DBSK — I know they have proven their mettle in the industry but I’m not much into their songs. 2PM actually are entertaining but I’m not into big groups…more so Super Junior. Just my two cents.

    • hey says:

      amen to this! :)

    • Ahra says:

I agree with everything except the SHINee comments regarding their music. I think their music is the majority of the reason why they’re so popular.

I wish YG would consider the groups instead of the individual, but you know what, it’s working for him for I guess I can’t complain too much. (Though 2NE1 really jumped in way too fast).

      But yes, AGREED on everything.

  32. Beetle says:

Whatever it is, DBSK will always be #1, Big Bang #2 and then the rest of the idol groups next. DBSK and Big Bang will always be the top 2 bands in Korea. Not just my opinion but.. the fact.

  33. crazygirl says:

I don’t even like DBSK, but I’d definitely agree that they’re the top dog in those category except fashion and dancing. Many would say that BB has fail fashion (insert the weird clothes of GD), but you gotta hand it to them, they veer from the ordinary and tends to experiment more. For me, it’s a good thing that they try new things and not stick with safe choices. It makes them a trendsetter. 2PM definitely have dancing as their department. But, Shinee should be placed higher in the dancing department because all members can dance. Big Bang’s my favorite group, but even then, I know that dancing’s not their department. Doesn’t bother me though coz I enjoy watching them by their sheer charisma and stage presence. Vocally, it’s difficult to pit BB with other groups coz even if they’re an idol group, their music usually rely heavily on rapping and it’s difficult to compare their vocals as a group with the other idol groups like TVXQ, Shinee or 2AM. Apples and Oranges, imo. On popularity and income, TVXQ is definitely number 1. BB is number 2 if we’re talking about Korea. I’m not sure though how popular BB is around Asia though. I haven’t seen them make a tour aside from Japan. I think SUJU should place higher if we’re talking Asia. They should be number 2 considering their popularity in China, Taiwan, Thailand etc.

  34. LB says:

I don’t understand who does this I mean who ranked this bands?….I really like all bands there….and the ranking is in the one hand good but on the other hand its a little bit strange…i mean the ranking i our heads are diffrent from this ranking here…..they should choose many people from diffrent countries and let them do the ranking…that were definetly better…hehe…and i think you all would have interesst in participate in something like that…then you all could give your choise..and it would be fun!!!!!
And i think in my opinion SHINee dancing skills are better than Super Juniors….;)

  35. lollercoaster says:

DBSK pwns I love them, they were my first kpop band I got into and my first thought was: Damn Xiah and Micky are ugly…
and to this day I think: Damn they are still ugly as hell.
I could smack a bitch every time some delusionated fangirl would say: XIAHHOT DAEBAKOMG!!! NOOO!!!!
Yunho man he has always been hot (well, after he got his teeth fixed)
and Jaejoong (with his nose lol)

    • pammiej85 says:

You should smack yourself because obviously you don’t respect other people’s opinion. It’s your choice if you think they are ugly but you should keep that to yourself. Didn’t your mom ever teach you if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all?

And I’m sorry if I’m misjudging you but based on your comment, you come off as a highly superficial person who judges solely people based on their looks and are quick to use infantile words such as “ugly” and “gross” to describe people.

      Please grow up.

    • Kimmieunni says:

Xiah and Micky both have their individual charms, “ugly” or not. It’s a pity you can’t see that.

  36. sos says:

in my list dbsk is always number 1, even if there’s a lot of people that likes big bang, i think that big bang isn’t that talented

  37. ninerz says:

FYI people, it’s not Jaesu and the Boys…it’s Dong Bang Shin Ki..don’t put jaesu on a pedestal just to knock the other three to the ground and ignore their merits and talents.

  38. keehe says:

    yepp dbsk :]]
    hahaha
idk…i dont see how bb is so high up for dancing.. T_T

  39. yeah! says:

    Dancing Skills
    #1 2PM

  40. &me says:

i agree with the rankings but not all of us love idols for their skills. if its only about the skills, why not become fans of so many great artists out there with natural talent making good music and not a bunch of pretty boys selling us mediocre music. in other words, the more money they make, the more whorish their companies are, so its nothing to be proud of.

  41. riki says:

they need to change the dancing skills one so shinee is number one and txvq is number 2 and fashion sense tvxq number one but other than that i so agree with the list. i mean really who wants to dress like g-dragon?

  42. tvxqfangirl says:

I really agree with this list for the most part. I have no problem with 2PM being number one for dancing especially with Jaebum. He set the pace for his group’s dance style.

For fashion, I think BB deserves it since they are one of the main groups that have stayed consistent with their overall style. As a group they really are very stylish. But if it was about idol group personal style, I would choose DBSK simply for their airport style.

Although 2AM are good singers (probably the most vocally talented idol group out of all the new ones), their harmonization isn’t quite up to par with DBSK’s and they don’t have the challenge of dancing while singing live and sounding good like DBSK does. Also, they don’t have challenging enough ballad to sing.

For the people questioning DBSK’s popularity and thinking they are overrated, the boys can’t help it because the MAJORITY of people find them to be handsome, entertaining, professional and talented. They just are. It also helps that they have expanded their fandom outside of Korea and even Asia for that matter. So more people know about them compared to other kpop idol groups.

And the people ragging on Yunho and Micky really need to listen to them live. Especially in Japan before hating on their vocals and saying that they can’t sing. I just love how Micky sounds when he sings one of his self composed ballads while playing piano live on stage:D

Also, I agree with those that say Shinee should be a bit higher in some of these rankings. They are definitely above average in their talent.

  43. blah-__-' says:

    i agree with tvxq :P
    but i thought… dbsk’s income was pretty low, well i heard that rumor… but….uh… ya…
i think big bang is more popular than 2pm, i knew big bang first, then dbsk then super junior :)
hahaha :) anyway all kpop groups are AWESOME! :p
