The beloved Kdrama Goong, also known as The Princess Hours or The Palace, will be turned into a musical this year. Group 8 Production company will be taking aspects of both the original manhwa written by Park So Hee and the drama to create the musical. They say that they will incorporate a wide genre of music and dance styles including classical, jazz, hip hop, ballet, and traditional Korean court dances in the musical.
The story is set in an alternate reality of modern day Korea in which they have a Royal family reigning over the country. The story follows the love that blossoms between the Crown Prince and his Princess who is a commoner forced on him through an arranged marriage. The drama, which was one of the most popular in 2006, shot it’s lead actors Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon to stardom in their first major acting roles.
The musical is set to debut this September. Group 8 is currently holding open auditions for actors to star in the musical.

You know they’d better do this in the states, because I would love to see that
I want to see this ^^ I loved that drama
oh my…I loved this drama… definitely going to look forward to this one
I wish Eun Hye would do this…It would be something new and challenging for her. Anyways, she’s a great dancer and she can sing too so why not?
Not trying to be cynical (oh, who cares, I totally am)
Group 8 need to stop milking this drama/musical/whatever it is and do something new.
It’s not that bad~^^…This will be only their 2nd project..Manhwa was already out…Then they bought the rights to do a drama…Now they will do a musical, but Goong S. was from a different company..& the story was from a history not manhwa..
