I kid. But this has definitely been Wonder Girls‘ week, what with their Billboard-ranking single, their appearance in People magazine, and heck, even a Seoulbeats feature article. The Wonder Girls have always been hot, but they’re getting hotter…and JYPE knows it.
So where will the Wonder Girls go next to spread their ‘clap-clap-point’ charm?

Ah, yes. China. The elusive Asian beast of a market that seems to be nearly impenetrable by k-pop artists. Sure, the hallyu wave’s done its fair share of work down and around there, but to be honest, it seems as if the only k-pop group that’s had a decent amount of notable success in China and Taiwan is SS501. That is…until the day that JYPE announced that the Wonder Girls will be releasing a Mandarin version of ‘Nobody.’ I mean, they put a pretty impressionable scratch on the even beastlier US music market, so what the hey, right? Especially if you’re going to be making your China debut during the Mobile Festival in Beijing, alongside superstars Jackie Chan and Zhang Ziyi. Headliners much? Granted, I’ve gotta admit that JYPE’s strategy of celeb piggybacking (re: JoBros tour) is pretty smart.
Seems like JYPE’s really on board with their whole ‘global’ –or, should I say, country-hopping–endeavor. While Sony still has sour grapes with YG and various plagiarism allegations, and SM USA is still trying to keep BoA afloat in the States, the Wonder Girls are milking the global market for all its worth. But with such a quick transition from their budding success in the US market to relative newbie status in China and Taiwan, are the Wonder Girls simply going to be known as ‘The Girl Group With Shiny Dresses and The Same Song In Fourteen Languages’? Bah. Nonetheless, much luck in their future endeavors.

i was wondering about that too, suju-m seems to be pretty big in china. o__O maybe they don’t count because almost half of them are chinese?
i wonder what happened to those “chinese wondergirls” JYP was training….
Oh yes! Suju-M is super big in china right now! When I went back this summer, they were everywhere! Especially Siwon and Hankyung! Clothe shops, Pepsi, Tv, Commercials for eyedrops… o-o. Oh and there was also a big poster of Heechul’s face for a random shop that was about to open ( I don’t know what it is though). My family had this “north to south” trip in china (meaning that we visited lots of places) and big shopping malls from every city has something about Suju-M ^^.
jesus fucking christ give nobody a rest. i was patient enough to listen to it the first million times but this is really getting old. give me a new song dammit.

That was a surprise. I though Kpop has spread in Asia? I saw a lot of chinese doing wonder girls in youtube. Aren;t the WG already well known in China and Taiwan?
Chinese dont really accept KPOP, but NOBODY is everywhere in China. So I’m looking forward to their concert in China

i’d say sj-m is making way more waves than ss501, by far. what has ss501 even done in china other than hold the regular fan meet or have a concert there once in a blue moon?

소녀시대 is SNSD or Girl’s Generation, but all those search terms produce almost similar results. Seems like they are not that famous in China.
Chinese dont use Google to search stars, we use Baidu more often. Also, many search bad words of SNSD, that’s why….
I see, thanks for the info. I think Baidu also has something similar to Google Insight which is Baidu Search Ranking, but I couldn’t find a link to it, nor do I know Chinese to use it. lol

Because they said lots of bad stuff? Lol. Chinese hate rude people. I think most of the hate is directed to Tiffany because she laughed when the Sichuan Earthquake was being discussed. I dont blame them though.
