R-16 Incheon 2009: B-Boy Heaven

Sixteen B-Boy Crews from 15 countries will compete side by side in this year’s world B-Boy Masters Championships event held in Incheon, Korea. If I were anywhere near this event, location wise, I’d already be standing in line.

R16 is a bboy tournament sponsored by the Korean Tourism Organization featuring 16 teams from 15 different countries competing for the title of the best bboy crew on Earth.  It is, however, much more than a bboy tournament but also a celebration of diversity, creativity and collaboration spanning 3 days full of music, graffiti showcases, fine art, fashion and a hip hop concert on September 27th featuring some of the biggest names in hiphop in Korea and the States.”

This event is HUGE for the B-Boy community and anyone else who supports these talented men and I can’t wait to hear who the winner of R16 will be this year. To top this exclusive event off even more, a hip hop concert with Epik High, Druken Tiger, Rakaa from Dilated, Roscoe Umali and Dumbfoundead will rock out the show on September 27th.

The Third Annual World B-Boy Championships and Urban Arts Festival at the Global Fair and Festival will be held in Incheon, South Korea on September 25th-27th, 2009. Tickets can be purchased at the Incheon Global Fair and Festival box office located at Bi Ryu Performance Stage.

Wherever you live in South Korea, book your flights, plan your car pools, pump air into the wheels in your bicycles because this is one event you do not want to miss.

Is there any way vids of this competition will be put up for us to watch on seoulbeats?

I’m a bit curious why Quest crew isn’t competing… But it should still be fun to watch.

    • Oni says:

Quest Crew aren’t competing because well… they aren’t even a b-boy crew. Also the b-boys that are in the group would get destroyed by the ones in this competition. No offense to Quest Crew they are great at what they do.

      • EmJaye says:

Oh. You can tell I don’t know all that much when it comes to b-boy… Still looking forward to videos, tho!

      • Klutztinee says:

        Right on!
I love Quest more than anything
i was a straight up fan from the second i saw them on abdc
        dom♥ ahh!
but no doubt they even said themselves that
        they’re not all b-boys
but you do have a few of them in the bunch
it would’ve been awesome to see them compete though..
even if they might not do that well…
plus, victor’s korean…i wonder if he can speak though..?

Movie is base of a Bboy comp like this
    Planet B-Boy that follow B-boys from America, France,South Korea,Japan
    Planet B-boy

The South Korean b-boy teams are amazing.Their technique is ground breaking but the Japanese are just as good.

  9. Cotoro says:

I’m going to gather some friends together and go!

  10. So phunny. says:

“pump air into the wheels of your bicycles” . lol. . . . . . Imagine parking our bicycles at that B-Boy concert venue. We’ll be the laughing stock at the concert. Yo ! El !

Reminds me of the J-drama, ‘Honey and Clover’ . . . That slow-witted bicycle boy was a loser in love. So, boys, always strike when the iron is hot. Don’t dilly-dally in pursuing love. The worse that can happen is, u get burned, ie u’ll recover.

Fyi, it should be ‘pump air into the tyres……’ . . . But, I’m splitting hairs.

  11. sup says:

just like everyone else, when i think of b.boy the first word that comes to mind is Jay. He would have love this event. I’m getting sad again thinking of his potential happy smiling face if he was able to be included in this. poor boy.

*cries* This is one of the reasons why I wish I lived in Korea or had the opportunity to visit. The Hip Hop performance line up is hot and I would kill to see the bboys perform right in front of my eyes.
Sadly, I’ll just have to wait till vids are posted in Youtube :(
