Sooyoung shows how to elongate the leg
I’ve never said this before, but I have three favorite SNSD members. To be honest with you, I don’t believe SNSD is a bad group at all. They might be very sugarplums and fairies, but in the end the group knows what they want, and they get it every time. Their formation is always clean and the vocals aren’t half bad and plus in every ajusshi’s eyes you can’t go wrong with 9 beautiful young gals. With that said, my three favorite girls are Sooyoung, Taeyeon, and Seo Hyun. Why? These three are naturally cute and innocent and I don’t sense a hint of arrogance when I watch them on variety shows.

And I’m glad the girls get more airtime and exposure compare to earlier days where it’s always about Yuna.
I’d kill to have Sooyoung’s legs. Seriously. Mine look like the woman next to her in that video clip. I’m 2 cm taller than Sooyoung yet she’s 100x more gorgeous.

i also like sooyoung, taeyeon, & maknae seohyun…as you said their naturally cute, but i also like yuri because her beauty & charm just blew me away.. (i’m a girl lol)
i dont like SNSD but i find them entertaining to watch because they’re beautiful hahaha. my favorites are taeyeon and jessica. they sing well and they act themselves, no need for the whole cutesy shit. they are who they are.
hyoyeon doesnt get much attention, it’s so sad.

I like them because they don’t afraid to be a bitch (Jessica FTW). People can hate all they want, but SNSD girls is the first who can speak their mind and being goofy on tv (while bickering with each other openly).

Taeyeon has got to be my fave member from snsd. she’s always been the one to stand out talent wise, though she isn’t always perfect. I find her to be sincere and halirious just like Soo Young. those two need to be a comedic pairing together.
She shouldn’t be showing us how to elongate our legs.

The only people i like in SNSD are Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, Yoona and SeoHyun.
TBH i’m not a fan of Taeyeon (her racist remark was a turn off).
But i think she’s REALLY funny. I’m just not a fan of ANY leaders of groups lol (except for Jaebeom)
at first i didn’t see what the big deal was with Taeyeon, except for her voice. But now, I find her hilarious. She isn’t afraid to be her goofy self. I find it cute.

Honestly, I like SNSD because they are the ones who act like ‘normal’ girls would act (cute? bitchy? fun? goofy? yeah they got them all)… while this behaviors may cause them a lot of problems, but at least all the nine girls are being themselves.

if you’re talking about the “she’s pretty for a black person” comment, i put it down to ignorance more than racism.
i’ve spent long enough convincing my extended family that black people aren’t the stereotypes they see in hollywood movies or the borderline rapists in the american army during the war. all it took was getting to know my well-mannered british-nigerian buddy from school to visit (my 14 y.o. vehemently racist cousin wants to marry him now).
taeyeon’s an entertainer who’s lived in korea all her short life. she has a firm stereotype fixed in her mind, not necessarily of her own doing. she compliments pumashock’s appearance with suprise, showing she can appreciate black beauties and has become more open-minded, not like real racists who think the entire race is bad full-stop.
her comment was definitely regrettable but not malicious. i guess its because native koreans are so prevalent in korea and not enough foreigners are about to interact how they feel. it’s only when you become the minorty and witness racial abuse from the receiving end, like some of us living in the west, you appreciate how others feel.

couldn’t have said it better, a person will probably only learn how racism, or even stereotypes affect a person when they are the minority in a situation, for taeyeon, i still find it hard to like her now–she used to be one of the only members i could stand, but I don’t know if I can get over that one statement (i know i am stubborn lol)

That racist comment was proabably not intended maliciously. But I’ve always been taught in school that “ignorant” racism can be just as bad and should not be tolerate. East asians in general can be quite racist in their respected countries. but unfortunately Taeyeon is a celebrity and role model for some people. As a celebrity/public figure she didn’t get enough punishment, but as a human being she got too much. I like to think her reaction to pumashock’s vid was more of a remorseful one. She was reminded of her past statement and thought it better to keep her mouth shut about it incase people went at her again.

Sooyoung. <3 The girls are awesome. Actually, I think their earlier shows, like Girls Go To School and MTV eps, weren’t actually all that interesting, but these days they’re all a ball.
Ah, the racism issue being brought up again. I have to agree with the people up there; too much exposure to casual racism from relatives. It’s a disappointing and lowering way of thinking, but yno, with the relatives and with Taeyeon, you love them and you know they’re good at heart, so you try to forgive them and move on. I think it’s really revealing that she made the comment on a show with 2 other people, and there was no pause, no break, the other 2 didn’t skip a beat or say “No, she’s pretty for a person of any race”, or “Many black people are pretty”, or “This black person is also really pretty”. Korea screamed for an apology for the doc/nurse comment, nothing for the racist comment, although intl fans/netizens thought the latter much worse.
Anyway. Ellie, I’m surprised, I’d have thought you’d like Jessica/Yuri more.

I agree with you about the favourites! Plus Sunny, for me.
And I also agree with “itsme”. There is a large number of them, so I guess they don’t do individual monitoring of the personality they show in public as much as it was done to BoA, CSJH, other singers/smaller groups. Honestly, it’s almost sexism how much SNSD is bitched at. I also agree with everybody attributing Taeyeon’s racist comment to ignorance. East Asia is very homogenous in terms of ethnicities, and I’ve also had many relatives make casual racist comments to not only people of other colour, but also asians of other nationalities. Stereotyping is quite horrible, but since most of my relatives have never left their home country, they haven’t been able to relate to other races other than what they are shown on TV. Hell, they’re even borderline-racist against me, since I’m considered a “Westerner”. Of course I agree that people have to learn to be open-minded and understanding… but shouldn’t forgiving Taeyeon be part of being understanding?

when i first saw Sooyoung [which wasn't too long ago, but it was before Genie came out] i really didn’t like her lol. I saw her in the show where three older women were trying to make an imitation thingy for Gee, and she kind annoyed me lol. But now i really like her. I think she’s really pretty and funny. As for Seo Hyun, i always found her so pretty and cute! idk, she’s just adorable. They’re my two favorite from SNSD.
I have conflicting emotions about SNSD.
While I like some of their songs, such as Gee (very catchy, but I still dislike it a bit) or “Tell me your wish (Genie)”… and I think they are extreamly funny, I have a hard time overlooking their behaviour. While it can be excused because they are young or know no better, some things are just rude and stem from arrogance (how they Tiffyany, I think, treated her elders and Taeyeons racist comment) and shouldn’t have been repeated again and again. You’d think you’d learn not to piss people off the same way you did the last time, haha.
They are very talented and attractive. But their (occasional but reapeated) ignorance/arrogance turns me away from the group.
Like I said, I have conflicting emotions.

i totally agree with boom,why? for one as someone who personally knows racism as i have personally felt it on a number of occassions myself growing up. the who taeyeon remark was pure ignorance rather then racism.
I tried to like SNSD many times but I really can’t. There’s something about them that I cannot bring myself to like. Anyway I agree about Sooyoung and Seohyeon. They look like a nice person but Taeyeon….. I do sense her arrogance a lot of time. I don’t know about others or maybe I’m just biased but you try look at the clip when 2NE1 won Music Bank and see that face of hers.
I’ve always liked SNSD. They’re very genuine in their emotions and aren’t afraid to say what’s on their minds.
Rumors of SNSD being arrogant and rude all branch from anti-fans giving out half truths and whole lies or sometimes just lies. Anyone who watches SNSD at their rawest times knows that the girls have a lot of love for each other and are really kind-hearted, goofy, sometimes pervy xD, and are grateful for what they have.

I know the whole “racist comment” irked everyone up. To me, I really thought it was no big deal seeing how no none made a big deal with SeungRi said something racist as well.
I gotta say, no one is perfect. Taeyeon isn’t perfect, neither are we. Sometimes we say things that are not appropriate to the whole nation but at she apologized, forgive her… or is this another “reason” why antis say that to hate on SNSD? I don’t think she meant it that way as it was blown out of proportion.
Anyways, I like these girls as they’re always being themselves, they aren’t afraid. Some may say they are “fake” cause of their personality, but that makes them real. They aren’t afraid to show their real selves. Watching them on variety is hilarious as they remind me of my friends and I. They are girls, so they act like girls. Sometimes I think SNSD is the female counterpart of 2PM as they act goofy in front of everyone and so on. I like all the girls since they each have their own different and unique personalities.
btw, I think everyone wants Sooyoung’s legs.

i don’t know if i can attribute her remark to ignorance, per se– she obviously grew up exposed to the Korean ’standard of beauty’(pale complexion, high nose bridge, small face), that she would not find dark complexion all that attractive. (would it be called jumping on the homogenous bandwagon? i wonder…)

I love Taeyeon. About the racist remark… meh. I agree with what >boom said and some others. It’s blown out of proportion and if only the westerners give a little bit of their heart to try to understand how it is like to be in the minority, i think the world will be in peace.
