Son Dambi: Take Notes!

Okay, we all know Son Dambi is Korea’s “Dance hall Queen” but seriously -a “singer” cannot live by dance moves alone.

Recently uploaded to Cyworld is an amazing jazz themed cover of Miss Dambi’s “Saturday Night” by a group called “Big Queens“. Their name and incredible vocals remind me alot of  overlooked diva group “Big Mama“; could there be a link?  Oh well, I just hope Queen D’s management realizes that one day she won’t be able to charm her audience with just catchy dance steps and disco tunes. I know in the past Dambi made an attempt at singing ballads and didn’t fare too well. Maybe after intense vocal training she will be able to develop a voice even close to the caliber of “Big Queens” to go along with her onstage charisma.

They sung a ballad version of Saturday Night, how is that good comparison to the upbeat pop song she did?
Yeah, and IU’s acoustic covers are better than all the original songs she played, but still she’s won shit and other rookie crap groups gets awards like they’re give away t-shirts. Kpop is not the place to look for great vocals, at least not in the top 3 in sales and charts.

Wow, they’re amazing. But they won’t stay in the spotlight by just doing covers. I want to hear an original single.
