Hyun-Ah Finally Gets to Perform “Tell Me.”
Hyun-Ah’s k-pop career would be an excellent basis for a k-drama.
Burgeoning star of a rookie girl group, on the cusp of success, tragically put out of commission due to extenuating circumstances beyond her control. She watches from the sidelines as she is summarily replaced, and her former group members rise to fame and fortune without her.
Flash forward a few years and she’s older, wiser, but still young and hungry for the spotlight. So she joins a new girl group and despite the odds and formidable competition, the girls’ success rises above expectations.
A classic “phoenix rising from the ashes” story, and judging from the pictures of Hyun-Ah crying, emotionally overwhelmed after 4Minute’s debut performance, you have to feel for her.
So for her to perform “Tell Me’’ live, after all these years, I can just imagine the excess of emotions there. Especially since she was allegedly the original “Omona” in the song. Then Sohee got it, and well, we all know what happened.
The performance was part of Mnet’s Heroes special, and though Jiyoon rocked the house as usual, the performance is kind of disappointing. I can’t believe I’m saying this but…4Minute is no Wonder Girls. Personally, I’d have rather seen Hyun-Ah perform the song with the original group, but would there be enough space on stage to handle both Yoobin and Hyun-Ah’s sexy?

come to think of it, yeah it does sound like a good k-drama plot.
And then the two girl groups become intense rivals. Since this is drama, the two groups really hate each other.
Let’s amp up the drama a bit: the producer of the first girl group is like one of the most powerful media moguls in the country while the owner of the second girl group’s company was a former business partner but got cheated out of his share. Haha.
(by the way, I am aware that Cube is a sister company of JYP. I just wanted to add a little more spice to the story)
Too bad 4minute, by the way their going, will never be worthy of competing at the level as the Wonder Girls. Only SNSD comes close. Even Kara and 2ne1 still have a lot to prove.
Personally, the performance was so-so.
GaYoon or JiYoon should be leader, not JiHyun, she doesn’t seem like a leader. HyunAh’s voice…¬_¬
If they were each playing a part of the Wonder Girls, they should have had THOSE parts.
The only part I liked was HyunAh’s dance part because I know before she left, she was supposed to do it but it looked better then.
Maybe it was best to take HyunAh out and replace her with Yoobin, I think JiYoon should be rapper and Hyun Ah should be leader. Or Ga Yoon.
But the girl, JiHyun and the others should get more parts than Hyun Ah, after all, she’s the rapper – they get less parts and not be made the center position so everyone thinks they are leader.
Yet still, and I am a fan too, GaYoon gets less parts in this than HyunAh who Cube Ent. is making the main person.
If they are playing parts of people, they should get the exact parts. They made HyunAh seemed to be stealing the spotlight.

Her voice, combined with her intensive eye blinking, is so annoying. I liked her much more as the fierce rapper of the Wonder Girls. And she tries waaaay hard to be sexy, it’s such a turnoff.
The rapper with the sunglasses on the other hand is simply amazing. She oozes charisma.

the tell me rap was done by yoobin that’s why.
I don’t mind Hyunah, but dude. I wish there was more balance in this group. I can understand playing on her “phoenix rising from the ashes” image for a bit, but can we lay off already? The point of a group is that it’s a GROUP. Not four random girls and Hyunah.
I thought Hyun-Ah was good when she was rapping on Irony. It was very seductive and sassy the way she flowed. IDK what happened in this performance, but she needs to start rapping like the Irony video again.
OMG! the last few lines of the rap where she turned her head and blinked was the MOST annoying part. She is exaggerating the dance steps and Jihyun(the leader) barely had her parts!
she is definitely taking this title as “ex-Wonder Girl member” too seriously.. geez! face it.. you will never be a Wonder Girl member again,no matter how hard you try.
IMO,She should get out of that shell and move on with 4Minute.
I thought her voice was freaking annoying. Omg what happened!?!?! I can’t take it. It’s so high-pitched and annoying.
I don’t mind any of the members… except HyunAh. She just ruins 4Minute for me. It sounds like she’s trying to do a snob-voice when she’s singing and it’s very annoying… the rap should have went to another member too…what happened since Irony (she was really good then!)? not trying to be mean, but I’m glad Yoobin replaced her.
on another note, I thought all the other members performed pretty well

you know… when hyuna left, i was so disappointed. but listening to her now, i wonder what the hell happened to her voice?! it’s so obnoxiously screechy and high pitched. yoobin is a MUCH better addition to the wonder girls.
actually, Hyun-Ah wasn’t the original “Omona”; it was Sohee.
Hyun-Ah was the original dancer in the solo part and the “wonder woman” in the Tell Me MV.

i also agree with kimberly may, hyunah’s voice wasn’t so off in irony. in fact, i loved her the most in wonder girls at the time! i think her new ent. company is relying too much on hyunah’s remaining fans for their group’s popularity. she shouldn’t get so much of the spotlight – her other members deserve a chance too. at first, i was rooting for hyunah to make it on her own – but i think she’s riding on the “pity me, i was formerly a wonder girl” bandwagon for too long.

When I watched this performance, I was actually really glad that she was replaced by Yoobin. My God.
I’m really trying to like this group, but really, why does cube like cashing in on hyun-ah’s past?! The company should make a song that 4minute can sing and immortalize. They really fail to deliver, every time. And what the hell happened to JiHyun? She’s the leader but she ended up doing back-ups? Is it asking for too much if fans/people would want to see that she should at least get a part?
i think 4Minute is actually decent, and has potential… but HyunAh parading how she’s an “ex Wonder Girl” is just getting to be too much.

hot issue is actually an addicting song, but hyunah’s voice makes me cringe. i really wanna listen to the song but hyunah’s voice just stops me from doing so

And 4Minute isn’t THAT bad, it’s just Hyunh A that is really annoying. She and Cube ent. are relying too much on her Wonder Girls’ past and that causes her to overshadow all the other members – who are actually good.
ji yoon didnt do anything…neither did ji hyun…so wrong. but for the first time im liking ga yoon. she sounds almost like ye eun here. she sounds waaay better then their debut at least
