Pop groups are more about image and marketing that creative expression. We’ve always known that. Even in America.

But anyways, I’m pretty much over how most of the entries on seoulbeats sounds like they could be found in a pre-teen’s fanfic or a really bad tabloid that is trying to hard to sound intelligent.

SM Entertainment’s profits total the billions, of course they wouldn’t steal a song without buying the rights first and crediting the original composers/songwriters.

^Many companies actually buy songs from elsewhere. The famous Johnny’s Entertainment actually buys most of their tunes from Sweden. When you’re running like 10 different groups, it’s easier to just purchase songs than getting someone to write them all. Do the maths; say there are 10 groups, and each group is planning to release an album of about 12 songs. That’s 120 songs to write there. Do you think it’s actually a sensible idea? It’s easier for you to say “it can’t be that hard to get someone to write them” when all you’re thinking about is the title track.

I find it kind of stupid that people are still going “HMM I STILL SMELL A CONSPIRACY.” Do you not have anything better to ponder about than pointing fingers where they do not belong? SM’s released official statements, along with those that proved the song was an exclusive one purchased from Universal Music Publishing group. At least they’re fully acknowledging where it came from; SM has never tried to hide it when they buy rights to a song, or released a remake. I’m not sure why they’re such a popular target for crazy netizens with nothing better to do with their time.

This is kind of old news, but it’s nice to see it officially posted so that people can get correct the previous misconception that SM plagiarized.

Shit if entertainment companies just came up with original songs instead of copying them (with rights or not) they wouldn’t get in ordeals like those. Nowadays there are just as many up and coming producers as there are artist. Not that fucking hard to go and find one.
