Behind the scenes of Ariel Lin’s Firefly MV

Here are few pictures from Ariel Lin’s Firefly music video with Donghae and Siwon from Super Junior.

The real reason why I’m posting this rather useless information (unless you are a Super Junior fan, that is) is because I didn’t really get to talk about the actual music video when it came out, near the beginning of July. I was too busy celebrating Canada Day (any Canadians out there?!), I totally forgot about it up until recently. For those of you that missed it for whatever reasons, here it is:

Aw. When I first watched it I thought it was really cute. But at the same time I couldn’t stop thinking to myself, “… but this is too happy. If this music video was Korean…”

So I came up with my own Korean ending to this music video.

The ultimate Korean ending to this video would be:

Siwon gets on the train. Regretting not telling Donghae about his former relationship with Ariel, he gets off at a random station and starts running back. He runs for a good 2 minutes of the music video running aimlessly along a pretty coastline. He finally gets there and sees Ariel. He screams out her name, runs toward her, and gets hit by a car. Ariel’s reaction to this is in slow-mo, obviously. She screams out for him, but it’s too late.

Fast forward – Ariel is heartbroken. She ends up writing a letter to Donghae and commits suicide. Or dies of cancer. Either way works, really. Donghae, now fully aware of what happened, spends good 5 minutes of the music video crying and breaking things. Then he grabs his surfboard, swims out to the sea, and drowns. The last scene of the music video will be Donghae looking all pretty, drowning in the water.

Everybody’s happy now!

…But of course, that didn’t happen, because Taiwanese people are happy people. Unlike Koreans.

    hahaha
yeeeeh hmm that sounded SOOOO familiar…and that seriously does only happen in KMVs
and this is where TWO part MV’s come from too.. spending 5min screaming~~

  5. kay says:

Ew. She looks way too comfy
    with them.

  6. scilla says:

lmao, that probably would’ve happened if this were a korean mv.
good thing its taiwanese, because i would’ve been crying my eyes out

  7. Sika says:

HAHAHAHAHHAA I love the Korean ending :D Ariel’s so pretty! Love that both Donghae and Siwon were in the MV :)

    LMAO.
When I saw Siwon near the train I was thinking that they should end it in Russian classic style. Siwon plays Anna Karenina and is hit by train. Insert major drama here. Than Donghae, in grief and sorrow, tries to find his place in global historical process, can’t find one (because it’s REALISM, people) and he is so shocked with it and disgusted with himself that he leaves show business and lives in the countryside writing his own biography filled with morals and eternal humanity values. OF COURSE he can’t be with Ariel no more because… Just can’t, believe me, it’s Russian-style drama. And she can just go die… no, it would be too much, we don’t do it like that… Oh, I know! She would go and marry LSM, who will be full of dignity, old, noble and reach man. He will kiss her toes and spoil her and she will not love him but still will be faithfull to him all her long, tragic and unhappy life. And all this story will be endless and filled with descriptions of nature. Wait, I forgot duel. Siwon and Donghae have to fight somewhere before train station. In a field under rowan trees. In a snow. PERFECT.

    *rich man

  10. Kay says:

Yeah that’s how it works. I can’t tell you how annoyed I get when I see MVs of people who used to have lovers and now they don’t so they trash their own house. Pretty effed up if you ask me.

    I prefer the Taiwanese video.

  11. candipearl says:

    HA!!!

  12. bazinga says:

    LOLLLLLLLL but good one!

  13. happilyinsane13 says:

    lol I love it.

“Because Taiwanese people are happy people. Unlike Koreans” I cracked up XD

  14. LiteratiTempo says:

Yup that’s exactly how a kMV would go. I like how Ariel picked Donghae in the end, I guess they both got closure. How cute.

  15. cherviosk says:

    SPOT ON HILARIOUS.

  16. lenrasoon says:

LOL i love the korean ending more >.<

  17. ghggh says:

  18. chajjye says:

hahaha. so typical korean mv. :P

  19. susho says:

HAHA!!! nice nice loved your ending =p

  20. Hae Won says:

CANADA :) woot. I like the happy-go-lucky theme of this, Siwon didn’t even seem sad or pissed off that Donghae got his girl kekeke

  21. chajjye says:

i have to add…ur korean ending reminded me of 8eight’s “goodbye my love” where the best friend dies, hit by a truck. :)

i’m a little pissed that siwon didn’t get the girl, they didn’t like exactly broke up u know…i’m not angry at ariel, i’m just not feeling the story much. but yeah, it’s cute…and a little sweet that she stuck by donghae all the way, meaning she doesn’t change her heart so easily. which i would get more angry if she chose siwon again.

imo, siwon plays his character REALLY well. love how he totally lost his smile when they both meet again for the first time. ariel played her part just as well. excellent actors. donghae is just the happy go lucky character, nothing too hard imo.

But Siwon didn’t get the girl! At least have another girl appearing or something like that! *goes into offensive korean drama mode

or maybe she should just dump both of them and look for another, then have both guys mope about their loss…but even i can’t think of a suitable replacement from suju.

    i m so contradictory. :)

  22. Prisyla says:

    AHahahahaahah….
    That was awesome..

and I’m totally agree with ur alternate Korean ending….

That would never be far from that.. LOL…

  23. Lucy says:

    LOLL no one dies! XD
    and so it IS true.

your korean ending is great. LOL

  24. keehe says:

    ur ending is great :)

hahah taiwanese ppl are happy people..unlike koreans. hahaha

  25. lovenyc52 says:

lol. love ur korean ending! too funny….and too true!

i heart ariel – she is adorable! i like that she stayed with donghae in the end…. even if siwon is a hottie haha :)

  26. sellymoo says:

    Ariel Lin <3

  27. yssa says:

Taiwanese people are happy people. Unlike Koreans. ~hahaha! good observation! i’ve never watch any t-drama where someone dies.. waha!

  28. twicethefool's niece says:

Ohhh how I couldn’t stop staring at Donghae the entire video…

Well, I do agree how the ending was a little too “happily ever after” for a Korean MV, but for the sake of my heart, I think it was a good ending.

  29. EmJaye says:

I’m glad Taiwanese people are happy people… That would’ve been a really depressing mv if it were Korean style.

  30. Ayame says:

I just had to laugh at the “Korean” ending.
but if Taiwanese people are happy people and Koreans are not, what would Americans be?

  31. meow says:

i seriously think when Donghae and Siwon got their scripts for this,,,they were looking for the part where on of them dies…or gets cancer….or gets run over by some big moving vehicle….or has to fight their fellow SuJu,,,,,

  32. 13eyondMe says:

    The new ending is great
Since I am korean,I was thinking the same thing
    The ending is too happy

  33. Mikaira says:

LMAOOO ~ !!! OMG THAT WAS LIKE SOO DAMN FUNNY ROTFL XD
THIS SERIOUSLY MADE MY DAY … I LOVE THE ENDING, DEFINITELY A KOREAN ENDING. <3

    Donghae & Siwon ~ !!! <3
