An Open Letter: TOP, I Like The Way You Work It….
Gather ‘round, fans of k-pop, to yonder blogging place. For there is a story (there is one in here I promise) that needs to be told. Well, at least I think it does, so you’re going to listen to it anyway. Ahem.
Once upon a time, there lived the mighty King YG, ruler of the aptly named YG kingdom, and he was in a lot of trouble. The SM and JYP provinces were flourishing, but YG was still struggling as the lonely outsider. He was different from the others. His kingdom did not possess fair maidens of the likes of So Neo Shi Dae, whose fair looks and ambiguous ages drew suitors from all across the land. Nor did he have princes the likes of Dong Bang Shin Ki, who were so beloved their subjects banded together to form an army, and the entire country of Cassiopea, in their honor.
YG’s prospects did not inspire such fervor in his subjects, nor did they inspire fervor in his bank account. So he made an important decision. He was going to make a hip-hop group and South Korea was going to like it.
My exposure to Big Bang was a relatively short time ago. A mere year, in k-pop obssession time. Honestly, my first impression of them was: “Awww. They’re a little Asian Wu-Tang Clan – and aww lookit they’re all Thug Life in their cornrows and shopping carts. Precious.” Not complete condenscension, but close. I noticed one guy in particular, probably because he was like 10 feet taller than the others. Spiky hair, intense eyes, you know, that whole, “Bitch if you leave me I’ll stab you!” vibe. Plus, he was wearing a face mask. Men in face masks, usually you do not trust.
But then I saw him with the mask off.And he opened his mouth. And it was like that scene in a cheesy romance novel where the tough, manly, slightly abusive jerkass with a heart of gold grabs you and says, “Baby, I ain’t never gonna let you go.” And he got me. The deep voice, (Barry White!!) those pimp rings, even the eyes weren’t so foreboding anymore. Those dark pools delicately framed with long, languid lashes, they were saying, “Come and get me. You know you want it.”
And I wanted it. But, you know, I’m a reasonable gal. Young, handsome Korean guy, big star, lives halfway around the world – it’s healthy to love from afar. Then, I found this:
DED. DED from just…everything. One of my favorite songs of all time, his Engrish is pretty good, and Taeyang’s being all cute in the background (comin’ after you next shortcakes).
I, I just… suddenly I want to learn Korean, get thick bangs and a bowl cut, heck I wanna move to Korea and show him a good time (just brunch you perverts!). But seriously, you can’t watch this video and tell me that Top needs an ordinary woman. He needs something different, something that’ll mesh with his *snicker* thug lifestyle. Which is why I’ve decided that a Black (and 1/3 Native American, and 1/3 Caucasian) woman is the best person for the job. And noI’m not saying it because I’m Black andNativeAmericanandCaucasian. It’s just, anyone who can sing Blackstreet like that….G-DRAGON GIVE HIM MORE SINGING PARTS! Um.
Top and Ashe got married, had beautiful blasian babies, and lived happily ever after.

That TOP pic at the top is one of my favorites. I think it was my first favorite TOP picture. I think you just told the story of every TOP lovers life. It was like like intense eyes + mask, weird cordi. Then maskless + goofy + eyes = love. I agree G-Dragon stop being a hog and let TOP have some of the singing parts, he won’t get more popular than you I promise

was mean and very serious. Until, I saw an interview and he’s a
very silly guy.
His voice blows me away, I remember drowning in my drool after hearing him sing “No Diggity”!
It makes me really happy to see how much BB’s music has spread over the years (I’m fully Black *as much as I know* from the US *non-coastal—-> Illinois* and a HUGE fan wanting to learn Korean too). And TOP is a cutie and I swear the next album, he should get a solo where he SINGS cuz he’s got it for real!!! And I’m with everybody about them needing to take their swag back to 2006/07 with some edits **um, SeungRi, YB still had his brow pierced (and probably nose…idky either), YB occasionally rapping, YB not hurting my ears with the failed falsetto attempts, GD…hire me as your stylist (it’s okay; trust me, i can tell you how to do the “urban rocker” look properly), GD with lip ring (mmmhmm)** And if Ashe and TOP had kids, I can def. see the baby have TOP’s eyes and beautiful face structure. GO ON GIRL!!!
