Is it 4Minute’s time to shine?
The full 3:29 of 4Minute’s debut song “Hot Issue” has been set loose; and one thing fans agree on is its “catchiness”. The electro-pop dance track reminds me of something from Star Wars. Try imagining C-3PO and R2-D2 as teenage girl-bots with a “princess complex”. It is “catchy” as many listeners have commented, but will it be catchy enough to compete against the likes of groups SNSD, 2NE1, Shinee, 2PM, and Super Junior?
Although they are receiving much positive feedback, it hasn’t been all neon sneakers and rainbows for the group. 4 Minute has recently been accused of plagiarism by eagle-eyed neitizens who have spotted striking similarities between their “Hot Issue” teaser and an iPod commercial from 2007 featuring Mary J. Blige.
Sadly the plagiarism claims may not stop there. The “breakdown” part of the song seems to have been taken directly from The Black Eyed Peas recent single “Boom Boom Pow” .

For Rach. You seem to not understand things, and only go by hype and promotion. It’s fine, maybe you’re a middle-highschooler or something, when I was a kid I liked britney too. 2ne1 hasn’t surpassed shit. They had 4 performances in more than a month, which is laughable, and in half of them they were crap and scared like the little girls they are. Why do you think they only perform 1 time a week? Because they have weak live performances and endurance, and 3-4 times a week would make them pass out. You seam to miss the fact that After School are modeled after PCD, so of course GaHee is going to shine over any of them, but as long as she’s in the group, After School is above the others. When she’ll leave, then they’re screwed. They’ll have a final performance this week and then they’ll rest.
4minute is way better than YG’s prototype band that only goes for shock factor. I’m waiting for some 2ne1 ass kicking.
Oh, and T-ara will definitely be better then these 2 bands: they are hot, tall, and have incredible voices, and that beats flashy clothes and synthesisers anytime.

not gonna lie though, theyre really hott!
but they seem more like a younger version of after school, with a lil 2ne1 spice.
im not saying they’re copying them, but it seems like theyre just following the trend instead of setting their own.
and even though 4minute isnt the first group to follow another group, just the fact that its this blatantly obvious to almost everyone with eyes and ears means that they need SOME originality to set them apart. what makes every group different from one another is their own flavor they add to the style, and in my opinion, these girls are lacking in that department.
nevertheless, im still going to follow 4minute cause
1. im jyp/cube biased
2. its wayy too early to tell whether i’d love or hate them
3. i havent seen their live performances
I think the short haired girl is the most interesting to me so far, I don’t really know about the others though, they’re kind of bleh

The song catchy as hell and the girls are pretty. What’s not to like? I wasn’t anticipating this group but I am now.

Go look at your After School’s MR vids and come back and tell me if they sing live or not. The group is 80% relying on Gahee to pull them into success and how old is she? 29? She’s going solo soon.
And for the 4minute fans and 2NE1, is tearing up a group that’s just about to debut the trend now? 2NE1 got trashed before their debut and the fans were defending them as “Lol you guys should judge them after their debut”. Hypocrites much?

Seriously, these girls are like cut and paste! They have a little of everyone ..from their style to their music. I’m not sure how well they’ll do though. Maybe it’s true, any publicity is good publicity. At least they’re being talked about.
