Ok, so not gonna lie, but I was never a big fan of Star Trek. It was before my time, you know? (And a little, let’s be honest-a lot, strange.) Having said that and having JUST seen it, I say: slap some Vulcan ears on me, call me a Trekkie in Klingon and beam me aboard, Scotty!
The movie was pure, unadulterated entertainment complete with a great score, a little swagger, action and CG effects galore, epic failure (in the best and most comedic way) at times, and amazing one-liners, not to mention HOTNESS. Yes, leading the crew there’s Chris Pine playing a cocky Captain “J.T.” (hahah) Kirk, Zachary Quinto as a smart-ass Spock with some serious sex appeal, and a scary Eric Bana as a pissed-off (and totally emo) villain. But, let me tell you, does our token AZN hold it down steering the USS Enterprise as a VERY sexy Sulu. Our boy ‘Raldy has come a long way folks! From obsessing over mini-burgers and MILFs to being the hottest helmsman ever, John Cho (37) has completely rounded out his career in a most awesome and EPIC way (at least in my fangirl eyes).
Sure he was only a supporting character; albeit one with a few GREAT scenes and VERY memorable lines. Just to warn you of his smoldering Sulu hotness though-the man knows how to handle a sword and his word of choice throughout the 2 hours or so is “thrust” (or a variation thereof).
So my final verdict: Go. See. It. NOW! And after you do, you can beam yourself back here to seoulbeats and agree, or agree to disagree with me, that this is a FAN-effing-TASTIC movie.
I would not only boldly, but GLADLY and WHOLEHEARTEDLY, go wherever these MEN go. And you should too.
PS. Zoe Saldana is there to provide some eyecandy for you guys too, but really with such a great movie, I’m sure you won’t even remember to notice her (or the super short female Starfleet uniforms).

I agree!
I saw this yesterday in London and it is AMAZING! SO SO SO good.
Unlike Wolverine which was utter crap.
DON’T MISS IT, even if you’re not a fan of Star Trek (like i was) you soon will be!
This film was FREAKIN AMAZING!! I loved every second of it. Yes, i will surely become a Trekkie now..oh man. I was totally in love with Zachary Qunito as Spock. He somehow captivated me and yes, he did have sex appeal. John Cho.oh man!! Fencing Badass!!! Ahh Chris Pine!! Go see it…it was awesome!
john cho is 37?! crazy
Technically he turns 37 in June…
^_^
have to see this… JOHN CHO JOHN CHO JOHN CHO.
he’s so adorkable omg.
aww man, this movie was pretty great. i’m not a huge star trek fan, but this movie made me want to see the old episodes. it has just enough sci-fi elements as well as the human interaction that is sometimes lacking in sci-fi movies. and man, does zachary quinto make a freaking-great spock. in reality it seemed like he was just playing syler, just a little nicer and more robotic.
ahh~ but a fun and entertaining movie to watch.. fo sho.
Yonheet I completely agree with you about the Sylar comment. I felt like I was watching Sylar with funny ears, hair, and eye brows.
OMG! I have to admit I was never a fan of Star Trek and used to laugh (a little) at the fans, but I have to say and agree with Ellie that this is a “FAN-effing-TASTIC” movie. Call me wierd but I think I’m in love with Spock…. hehhe. The angst is just too much! So I also suggest, GO SEE THE MOVIE!! hehhee…
sylar and john cho in one movie equal love
heroes for life :)
lol i just came back from seeing this movie! soo good! ;D im like, 13 so i was forced to go with my dad lol but i actually liked it!
my favorites were: spock, kirk, sulu, and that dude with the russian accent lmao 8D
WHAT, Cho is 37???? Whoa, he does NOT look 37 at all, I swear, I thought he was somewhere between 25 to 29, certainly not over 30. The man looks super young. I saw the movie yesterday, it was so freakin awesome. I was never a Trekkie, so some of the references/jokes were lost on me, but nevertheless, it was so fun to watch. I had been waiting for Chris Pine’s big break. He was in a flop movies like Princess Diaries 2 and Just My Luck, thank god he landed Kirk here.
saw the movie on saturday and it was a great film. but john cho didnt have that big of a part. honestly they should have called the movie how spock met kirk cause it was all about those two. hopefully if they make some more movies with this cast uhura will have some more scenes and important duties, maybe even a fight scene.
AGREE. I was just like you on not really a fan of Star Trek. After seeing the moving today, I can only say “I LOVED IT!!” I was impressed – seriously, really, oh my god yeah. Every aspect of the movie was great. Good casts for sure. It had the scary moments, sad moments, funny moments, exciting moments, etc. The funny parts came at the right time too. I enjoyed it very much.
John Cho is HOT & TALL in real life (saw him once, drool). Seeing him doing a good job as Sulu, I was delighted.
I was going to say that I like this one more than the older generation Star Trek. However, the old generation Star Trek help round up this movie to make it feel just right.
i watched the movie like 2 days ago and it was really awesome. i may even go see it again.
I’m watching because 2 hours of Chris Pine is worth it. <3
