The 30 second clip of KPOP star-extraordinare Chae Yeon screams nothing but SKANK. The teaser looks like 30 seconds of foreplay right before a full out raunchy porno. Come on girl, you’re freakin’ over 30 and you’re still pulling this shiz on us?
I know most of you are getting ready to throw your Chae Yeon spears at me, but I don’t care. THROW EM AT ME! I’ve said before the girl has a good personality but she doesn’t have to whore herself out to crawl back into the KPOP world. But, I guess sex sells…how unfortunate.
And remember people this is MY OPINION SO RELAX.
I’m always rooting for her, but she always disappoints, especially with her mvs! This teaser just made me cringe!

I’m not even her fan… in fact I don’t really like her personality that much either. but personally I don’t find 30 old at all. You can def. be over 30 and still be sexy (like Hyori and Um Jung hwa).
I think it’s the way the MV is shot that looks just trashy. Because Chaeyeon is wearing semi-decent clothes and she’s not really doing anything overtly trashy, but that one scene in the shower is indeed unneccessary and makes the entire teaser look tasteless.
You can’t deny that she looks good for her age, but Chae yeon has never been able to carry off the right sexy concept. That’s why she never makes it on the A-list!
She’s like the korean version of “white trash.” It’s harsh, but that’s what comes to mind when I see her……

But it seems you don’t know the nuances of the word at all if you think the the Jang Ja Yeon murder case was “sexist”. Do you really think that word fits in that instance? Sexism and sexual assault/homicide don’t really mean the same thing.
It’s also funny how you say you don’t think she should be allowed to be sexy because she’s 30. Not only do you not know what the word sexism means, but you also are discriminating against older people. Chaeyeon doesn’t know how to be naturally sexy. She’s always trying too hard and that’s probably why she’s not as popular. Sophistication is key as you age, whether you’re being sexy or cute, it’s better to do it in a classy stlye. This mv is far from that!

+ No my dear you misundertood. I am not saying that men aren’t concerned by sexism or they can’t help fight sexism (thank god they do, otherwise we will never see the end of it).
+ What I am saying is: WOMEN in this patriarchal society are the primary victims of sexism conducted by both men and women. As you said my dear (is it sexist when a guy says this?) obviously winning an argument over the internet makes people feel better, but I still disagree on a lot of your points.
This first thing I want to point out is that since you are too lazy to look up the word ‘discrimination’ yourself, here it is for you:
treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. There have been lawsuits against age discrimination all over the nation for older people not getting considered for jobs because of their age. Isn’t it the same thing if Chaeyeon isn’t allowed to do her thing?
But I’m not going to write a whole essay like you did, you seem talented in persuasive writing. :| Apart from your man-bashing, telling me random facts about your job, and your venting about things, none of which are really relevant to what we’re talking about.
In Korea, the Jang Ja Yeon incident is considered a murder case here because it was induced by sexual advancements, pretty much rape by the people she worked for. I guess in the broadest sense of the word it would be considered ’sexism’ but again I’m saying it’s not really everyday ’sexism’ because no one really dies because of sexist comments or behavior
Oh maybe I am starting to write an essay but I’ll stop now. Btw, you do know the terms ’skank’ and ‘whore’ (which the author uses) aren’t really words people fighting against sexism like using. There should have been a warning before that video. I’m not saying she’s skank since I obviously don’t know her, but her video was skanky. That was load of crap. If you’re going to be sexy, let it be natural. When it’s forced, thats when you get “skanky”. A lot of the things in that video weren’t needed… but hey, I guess sex does sell. I wonder how people in korea feel about this, as i’m not in Korea right now.
Oh, and it is possible to be sexy and over 30, but I thikn sexiness comes with age…and with age you can be more subtle. More confidence, and less [enter a word that accurately descirbes this video].

Hm. I was browsing older SB articles, and I think I’ll voice my opinion on this.
There is indeed a difference between skanky and sexy. Being American, and having been around this word my entire life, it is meant to mean someone who look’s sexually attractive. Skanky, however, (or whore-like, trampy, whatever), implies that the person is using sex appeal not just to achieve an overall look, but as a means of personal gain (usually monetary).
Anywho, you all probably knew that, but I’d thought I’d just show you where I was coming from with those terms.
An artist that I can think of that PERFECTLY exemplifies sexy and not skanky is Namie Amuro, one of J-pop’s biggest female singers. Many of you may not know of her (and yeah, I know this is a K-pop blog), but try looking up her sexy songs “Want Me Want Me” or “Do Me More” on Youtube. The woman looks sexy, and is singing risque lyrics, but she does it with a great amount of panache. She acts her age for one thing (BTW, let me remind those who don’t know that Namie is currently 31, and was 30 in the DMM music video), and can perform those songs maturely. She acts on stage singing about sex how any mature woman of her age might disucuss the matter in a conversation.
Compare this to Chae Yeon or Lee Hyo Ri. Now, I know some people will read this and be pissed and think I’m hating on Hyo Ri. I’m not. She’s a genuine person who works hard for her fans, but we all know her music would not sell if she wasn’t skanky in all of her MVs. Her concept is sex with some base lyrics and cheap beats in the background to call it music. Just because she’s a sweetheart doesn’t change the fact that people like her (and she tries to get them to initially like her for this reason) right off the bat for her killer body and sexual dancing, not her personality or talent. And that’s just superficial and wrong (not that I totally blame Hyo Ri…she’s been in the Korean entertainment industry for a long time, and it’s what she has to do to earn some coin, so she can’t really stop now.). As far as I’m concerned, not does it look just as whoreish and immoral for Chae to do it, it looks like a cheap imitation of Hyo Ri.
Now, I know these women can do whatever the hell they want, and that’s their freedom. But that doesn’t mean we, as K-pop fans, shouldn’t be able to point out the obvious shallowness of what they’re doing, and that it’s not a good thing.
(Like I said, I’ve no problem with Hyo Ri…she’s made a living out of what she does, so she might as well stick with it at this point. I’m like, not expecting her to have a higher revelation, or anything. Plus, I do think she’s a good peson in general. So no one hate me now!!!)
