Doesn’t the racist comments on Perez Hilton bother you? Every time I see Perez Hilton posting K-Pop, I’m like “Yay, that’s totally cool,” and then I scroll down and see 35624 comments saying shit like, “Oh these gooks are lame,” or “Oh this chink shit stinks,” I get a little distressed.
@ jay yoon
i know there will be like a bajillion racist, derogatory comments about kpop music and koreans, so i don’t go to Perez’s site to see the video on his blog. I’m just glad that Perez Hilton loves kpop. I wish he would put some of the more vocally meaty kpop stuff on there instead of the newest popular hit.
It’s nice that foreign music is getting exposure, but Perez Hilton exposure is not something to be that proud of. He specializes in gossip and making fun of people. The comments from those not familiar with kpop show the initial reaction of some American audiences- not very nice things to say.
im happy yay!!!
i like how its 2ne1 ft big bang lol
like the comments matter they are all just ignorant and hypocrites because really in my head i just fire back “well you like white trash, drug induced rehab loving rich spoiled brats who have egos the size of the north american continent and cant sing dance or walk half the time” so yeah (jk i dont really mean that but you know what i mean)
ahh . . . i just get frustrated
I don’t really like Perez so even though there’s that whole ‘there’s no such thing as bad publicity’ maxim, I don’t really consider him highlighting K-pop videos a big thing.
Sorry Perez but you ain’t nothing to write home about.
@ Jay Yoon
I think that the reason there are a lot of racist comments on those posts is simply because of the nature of that site. That doesn’t make it okay and it certainly doesn’t mean people wouldn’t still think those things but every time this happens, I feel that if it had been on another, more conservative music-centred blog, the comments would be a lot nicer or a little more positive.
even though i really dont like the song..i think its cool for exposure i guess…but man can ppl be racist..i didnt think they would be that main bad comments..i mean..im not asian but i felt really offended…there’s no color in music…kpop ftw!!
Perez’s blog is boring and trashy and the majority of the people who post there are extremely ignorant. I really want to know how he discovered K-Pop though.
I find it sad that Perez Hilton has the power to make the kpop world go googly-eyed every time he looks its way. He probably just posts this stuff because he gets such a surge of kpoppers worshiping at his feet because they’re desperate for some recognition.
some of you people here are just as ignorant as the assholes who are his blog. I don;t get why some of you are hating him simply because he likes kpop just like you guys. you guys make it seem just cuz he’s a famous blogger or such he can’t enjoy kpop like everyone else…
god. perez should post something more substantial. okay, cool his interest in kpop, but LOLLIPOP?!?! that song was hella annoying. the other more chill out BB songs would even be better :/
^ I agree. All publicity is good publicity. I don’t like or even respect Perez all that much, but I’m still happy he’s giving more exposure to kpop.
Although… I suppose the comments do bother me a little no matter how much I try to ignore them. It just shows the general America audience has a long way to go. I love Big Bang with all my heart, but picking ‘Lollipop’ where the boys were wearing flourescent and GD looks like a genie probably did not alleviate the whole racial acceptance thing. But at least effort is being made.
Nobody takes Perez seriously here, he’s a simple gossip slinger who is in love with the Jonas Brothers. That right there tells you his music taste and that ain’t good. He’s spotlighted plenty of people and most of them are still unknown. He even had a little advert for Boa’s new album up for a few days and well, we all know how horribly her album has sold.
Sigh, if only Perez had better music taste, he wouldn’t make a laughing stock out of korean music. The stuff he likes are the stuff even I’M ashamed of. As much as we’d like to recommend something better to him… we can’t forget…Perez is a unique guy…
All publicity is not good publicity.
I think Chris Brown more than proved that point for this year.
As for how a gay American would learn about K-pop, the rep of male K-pop singers in the USA is that they are all gay and also many gay prostitutes in the USA are Korean, same as they are in China, to the point that to be gay and asian in the USA means to be Korean to a lot of them. It is not all one sided though. To be a female asian prostitute in the USA means to be a Korean to most of them too.
If you don’t believe me do a search on strip clubs, massage parlors, and Koreans in USA. This is the dominant common view of Koreans in the USA among non-Koreans.
Agree..I even get the feeling he’s just mocking k-pop..I stopped visiting his blog ever since countless ads were placed that I can barely and hardly read the posts..and the posts are starting to become advertisements in itself..
funny how yall get hyped up and proud when perez posts something on his site related to kpop, yet he probably doesnt even know seoulbeats or the rest of these korean sites exist
and btw lollipop is a shameful rep of korean music…when i saw it on perez’s site i wanted to dig a hole and hide…so embarassing, especially when you’re showing it to americans who got trashy MVs and britney spears goin near naked in them

people seriously
in my fucking opinion which is totally going to stay that way until america get some shit straight
for one thing, they need to get a REAL NAME, fucking LIL WAYNE or LIL JON aint names.
for example korean stars have awesome names like, ONEW, Jay, U-Know, T.O.P., GDragon
and one thing i know for sure most korean singers DANCE. lets see american music videos the only people i see dancing recently is Britney.
the rest its just oh about some sexy shit lady that has no talent whatsoever.
i agree perez should have posted a better video, but this was for 2NE1 technically its big bang’s song feat. 2NE1. 2NE1, their debut song is FIRE.
people these days DONT FUCKING KNOW. how hard these stars work to entertain people, they have true talent, they study other languages to connect to around the world fans. well fucking i dont see that in american celebrities ._. its all about singing and looking good. well that didnt attract me, i may sound anti american pop which i think i am but i do love BritneySpears, JT, and Timbaland other then that. i mostly will hate other artists until they get good music.
AIDS loves abit of Perez.
i love perez!!!
i love it more when he puts korean stuff up even more!!
:)
FRUITY PEREZ LOVES FRUITY KPOP! YAY! LOL!

who cares about the racist comments? the important thing is they are talking about it. the more people know about it the better.
I think its lame, i don’t like Perez Hilton and think he’s lame. I don’t really consider this as a compliment.
dang, i used the word lame two times, sorry :S
Frankly, I think Perez Hilton should GTFO out of K-pop.
there’s no such thing as bad publicity ._.
I wish Perez would highlight some serious Kpop and not just the cutsey catchy stuff. But good for Big Bang and 2NE1 for getting the exposure.
agree with sunshine -> publicity is still publicity
i couldn’t care less ’bout this lollipop sh**, though
lovin Perez for spreading the word! XD
hatin the haters who leave racist comments XP
Argh, I hate that song >.<
I noticed though, he really likes music videos with bright colors doesn’t he?
Tell Me, U Go Girl, So Hot, and now Lollipop.
And than theres gonna be a wave of comments of whats with Sandara Park’s hair -.-
(gah. You people who designed their outfits… if only you knew this was gonna be on Perez’s blog you shouldve gave her a decent hair @___@)
Yay for 2NE1 and Periz! Spread K-pop~~~~
I bet they get more recognition from being on Perez’s blog than the singers who are trying hard to get into America by their English songs -.-
In fact, simply by singing Korean songs makes them gets more recognition -.-
It’s no surprise that Perez likes the Lollipop MV. Big Bang wears just as much if not more make-up than 2NE1 does in that MV.
im happy yay!!!
i like how its 2ne1 ft big bang lol

This guy has poor taste.
Him being into it makes me lose the little respect I have
Alrighty Perez!

Seeing my beloved Big Bang mixed in with the Perez Hilton trash makes me cry on the inside.
I know all publicity is good publicity, but Big Bang is too classy. and miiine.
