Park Hanbyul to be in a Rock Band
and unfortunately for us, it is not the Play Station kind. The actress/model, famous for being Se7en’s on/off girlfriend, has decided that she wants to become a rock star. Olive TV’s “Park Han Byul’s Pink Propose” is a reality series that follows the actress around as she tries to form a 5 girl band in which she will be the main vocal.
Stepping out of your comfort zone to try out new things is never a bad thing. However, after watching the first few episodes, it is really hard to take Park Han Byul’s dream of becoming a rock musician seriously. First of all, while her voice is pretty, it is more like a timid little girl’s voice singing in a corner than a lead vocal in a rock band. Second, when asked what genre of music she will be focusing on, the actress didn’t know what “genre” but only that she wanted her band to be “pink, not black like all the other rock bands out there”. During the auditions for potential band mates, the actress focuses more on the auditionees’ favorite colors (liking pink is a big plus) and whether or not their $3,000 guitars could be “prettified” to be a pinkish color.
For Park Han byul’s sake, I do hope that this series is more for publicity so that she can get more acting roles than an actual attempt to become a rock star. For what it’s worth, the reality series does shed light on her previously unknown down-to-earth personality… just enough so that you start liking her but unfortunately not enough that you would want to hear her sing.
