SNSD Trashes Fan Letters?

snsd_20090305_seoulbeats

SNSD have vigorously denied claims that they threw away fan letters.

Yesterday on MBC’s “Gold Fishery” featurette “RadioStar”, Tiffany, Sunny, Sooyoung and Jessica made guest appearances.

When asked “Are the rumors that SNSD threw out fan letters without reading them true?”, Sunny replied “We had tight scheduling after the broadcast and were running late, so we were rushing out and accidentally leave behind clothes and shoes… and of those things, only the fan letters were posted online”.

Sunny went on to say “The cleaners separated our clothes and shoes from paper. Among that paper were fan letters and so there might have been some kind of misunderstanding… we know how much time and effort is spent when fans hand-write letters” before showing tears.

Sooyoung supported Sunny by adding “All of us treasure fan letters and we always read them”

SNSD were reacting to photos released last July that showed fan letters allegedly found left in the trash by SNSD at a broadcasting studio.

It’s taken them only God-knows-how-long to respond to the photos, is that how long it’s taken SM’s PR people to get Sunny an acting instructor?

Let’s be realistic, SNSD’s got a mountain of stuff on their plates and when you start prioritising, the fan letters have to take second place. Just be honest with the public, since anyone who’s reasonable should understand that but if someone gets uptight about it, they’re pretty ignorant. Frankly, they can go and curl up in a dark corner and cry.

    First?

  2. orenji says:

    If you watch the show you can see how mad sunny is.
    She’s not crying because she is sad or want to be feel sorry for the fans but she’s crying because she was mad. The show it self is a good show. It give them time and place to clear some misunderstanding.
    I think they’ve already state it before (right after the photo was posted on the net), it just that the antis got too much time to kill and this incident is blown out of proportion.

  3. Vee says:

    “since anyone who’s reasonable should understand that”

    How long have you been into kpop again? Lol @ you, Korean fangirls and fanboys are the complete opposite of reasonable.

  4. dondon says:

    I’d be the last person to start madly defending SNSD, but you have to be fair. This was completely and utterly blown out of proportion.

    Honestly, even if I was one of the fans who wrote a fan letter and found out it was thrown away later, what can you do? Artistes have to run from place to place, which means throwing things in bags and running off to the next destination. Things are going to get left behind.

    And well, fan letters will eventually have to be thrown away anyway; there’s no way SNSD could possibly keep them all filed away in a cabinet or something. There simply isn’t enough room.

  5. Xenia says:

    Umm, they have to be saint or mental to keep fan’s letters. Read them – okay, I can believe (because everybody like to read good things about themselves). I do not keep New Year and birthday cards because they take too much place in my apartment. And with amount of fan mail to this girls they should have additional room just for it.
    If I received such a letter (oh, I HIGHLY doubt it) I would surely appreciate it (because it’s cool to know that somebody spent his time on it, decorated paper, draw flowers, whatever)… for pair of minutes (but, mind, sincerely and with warm feeling! XDDD) and then~ XDDDDD

  6. OMGWTFBBQ says:

    I don’t think artists would have time to clean up and organize everything when they are on schedule.
    Annnnnd, I don’t get what’s all the commotion. It’s blown out of proportion and antis have nothing else to do ‘cept for magnifying into their life to make more news out of it.

  7. shocked fan says:

    But they are the kind of people who would do that aren’t they? They’re not as nice as DBSK, Big Bang, or even the Wonder Girls. I don’t think this was blown out of proportion. They’re just covering up their mistake by the crying thing.

    • Teresa says:

      how would you know DBSK and the wonder girls are nicer than them? you can’t just assume that. if you watch their shows and videos, they’re all so nice and grateful to their fans.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      and about that banner, geez how pathetic does someone have to be to make a whole banner to hate on snsd? or anybody? that’s just sad. i hate stupid crazy antis. if you don’t like them, then go pay attention to who you do like.
  8. adnama says:
    Well fans can’t expect idols to keep letters forever. They’re going to end up in the trash sometime or another. With idols traveling a lot, etc there apartments would be filled with letters (plus food, electronics, other gift, etc)
  9. kudos says:
    What’s wrong with throwing away fan letters? I’m pretty sure everyone does it, cause really, who has the time to read all of them!
  10. adnama says:
    shocked fan: You don’t these idols we dont know these idols. I’m a big dbsk fan but for all i know they could be jerks. Lets stop commenting on their personalities like we actually have meet them.
  11. oniontaker says:
    @Xenia
    @dondon
    i agree with you guys. i’m not ciriticising their actions; i’m said we should be realistic and accept that these girls have so much to do at the moment, so you can’t blame them for doing anything about fanmail.
    the only thing i’m probably at odds with, is whether the girls are genuine or not. suppose that the allegations are true: they’re bringing in the greenbacks for SM; SM would spend a *lot* of money getting the girls acting classes to win back over any uptight fans. step back for a bit and look at the bigger picture; you don’t know what these girls are actually like any more than the rest of us. just because sunny looked upset doesn’t mean she’s genuine.
  12. Angel says:
    SNSD’s fans know they love everything they do to support them.
    They wear the clothes, eat the food, play with the toys heck Tiffany, Jessica, Taeyeon, and Hyoyeon have all visited Soshified.com [the international forum!} their fans are NOT holding a grudge.
    the show is a really good show they make all the stars talk about the rumors and scandals that’ve involved them.
  13. ash says:
    I’d say the cleaners accidentally threw those letters away without knowing what they were. What sane idol would throw away fan letters publicly, that’s like asking for antis.
  14. jyyjc says:
    well i understand they and other idols are busy and in a rush most of the time hence having some things left behind. yeah we don’t know exactly how they feel about this, but…who cares?
  15. Yin says:
    maybe its old letters?
    They all live in one apartment, its not gona fit all their fan letters. they probably chucked old ones away and kept the new ones, thats how it works right.
    But for all we know. they threw them away deliberately. >.> who knows and who cares.
  16. lasd says:
    wow oniontaker… -___-
    a lot of celebrities don’t address issues directly except for certain circumstances..
    SM Entertainment probably doesn’t let their artists just speak out about every single thing about them on the internet. That would be mad chaos.
    This can be seen for all SM Artists.. none of them address every single issues except the mad overblown or important ones like for Jaejoong and the DUI incident, Yunho with the anti-fan poisoning incident, Leeteuk with the Kim Yuna scandal or SNSD and the dream concert, etc.
    Those are major incidents that directly affected other people. But TVXQ, SNSD and SuJu members have had plenty of other scandals, whether true or not, that they don’t address until spoken to about it on variety shows. Like when Super Junior members appeared on the same show, they had the chance to address scandals as well. Also when Shindong had the “scandal” with that uljjang girl.. he didn’t say anything about it cause it wasn’t true until he was asked at Star Golden Bell.
    For example, TVXQ members didn’t address the issues when fans and antifans questioned their actions when their bodyguard blocked that fan at the airport or when Micky took the fan letter out of Jaejoong’s hood and supposedly let it drop to the floor. They didn’t address these because they probably were not true. No one really knows what the boys’ personalities truly are except for them and the people they work with.. but I’m sure they wouldn’t go around not caring about their fans. There must have been other circumstances at the time that just made things turn out that way.
    Celebrities don’t have to address every thing that is said about them and let’s leave it at that. Do you see American celebrities coming out publicly stating that they aren’t having an affair or that the tabloids aren’t true everyday? Only the most essential ones are addressed and the rest are left be until they are asked about it at some interview or talk show.
  17. lala says:
    @shocked fan
    i fucking love how you go on various kpop sites just to try and make snsd look bad. you are one mighty ignorant person.
    one word of advice: go get a fucking life
    p.s. i love how you talk about other idols as if you know them. i adore dbsk. but let me just tell you this…maybe you just haven’t been into kpop long enough to know that dbsk has done a lot of pretty douche-like things. since those incident were forgotten quickly because quite frankly cassi have an ability to mask things like none other and antis are smart not to mess with such a crazy fanclub.
    I believe antis of any kind are a sub-human species because their frontal lobes(the area of reasoning in the brain) are obviously not very developed.
  18. crack-clap-crap says:
    maybe it was all an act? maybe not? who knows? besides, the author didn’t put a video clip of that particular scene. lmao. just playing.
    while i don’t know how they truly feel about this, i do know i’ll feel freaking pissed if i were in their position, what with all the dedicated antis (like ’shocked fan’ up there) ready to devour you anytime. for all we know, an anti might be behind the whole thing. also, if i write a letter to goddess hyori <3 (lol) and she ends up throwing it away, even if she deliberately does so, i’m fine with it. i couldn’t care less. but then again, i’m not your typical kpop fan who takes things way seriously nor do i want to associate myself with them.
    shit i just wrote a long ass comment but i’m not so sure if i made a point. =_=
  19. vkdim says:
    I don’t even keep the valentine cards, bday letters, xmas letters I get from my own friends and family. I don’t expect any celebrity or any person to keep those types of things unless they were really special.
  20. shocked fan says:
    You remove comments?
  21. yay~ says:
    i’m pretty certain they didn’t throw or leave these letters in that dressing room..i mean, they can’t keep these letters forever and after they read them, they possibly throw it, but not in a place where people could see it. they probably burn it..who knows.
    as for sunny, i’m a fan of snsd and i love all the members but sometimes i get this feeling that she’s just acting. if i get to see the clip, maybe i could tell if it’s genuine. or not.
  22. shocked fan says:
    @lala Im not an anti. I love their songs and I love Taeyeon, Sooyoung and Yoona. Just raising a point. Some of SNSD are not really nice. Yes, I don’t know them personally. They don’t know me but I’m a fan. I don’t think Sooyoung will throw our letters away but I think Tiffany, Jessica, etc are. Don’t get mad at me for being so bold and brave enough to tell others my OPINION. You don’t have to believe me.
    By the way, I only write here and in allkpop cause I think these are the only sites that are worth going to. I don’t register cause I don’t wanna give up my information. Also, these fandom of mine is only a phase. I’ll get over it when I find something better to do.
  23. Xenia says:
    @ oniontaker
    Oh! I did not mean that I’m sure SNSD really enjoy fan letters because “I know! They are NIIIIIIIIICE girls!” or something. I don’t really care, too. I just think that any person likes when he/she gets some attention, so I think it’s highly possible for those young ladies to actually read/look through their mail.
    Plus, I do not care at all about sincerity of idols, so Sunny can cry or laugh, be honest or lie, I will still like her because I enjoy how she looks on my screen and I will never know what she is like for real.
    Also they kiss asses of their fans too much, imo. Because, let’s say, I love my sister, but if she does some stupid or cruel thing I will kick her and inform her that she’s a fool. But fans are always right, stars never clearly state that their fanclubs often do some crazy shit. “It was just a little, tiny bit too much to make that girl to commit suicide, let’s not do it anymore, okay, our precious nice adorable fans?”
  24. now0anon says:
    Ah who cares if they throw it away? Even if they did read EVERY piece of mail (which I don’t know is physically possible or not), after they’d just put it in some nice box and forget about it anyway.
    Why not save the earth by recycling that paper? It’s a Great Way to Go Green!
    And I STILL thought it was pretty funny when Micky supposedly took that letter out of Jaejoong’s hood and let it drop to the floor. Cause he’s BAD ASS like that!! Ain’t nobody mess with Pimp Chun!
  25. rijae00 says:
    I agree with vdkim..
    all cards that were sent
    to me by family or friends
    end up in the trash..
    just because they’re idols
    doesn’t mean they can’t do it..
    and don’t give me that “they
    gave all their love and efforts
    into writing that card” stuff
    cause news flash…they are cards
    and letters…of course there’s an effort..
  26. KHAN says:
    Old news. And they’re (SM, TV, snsd) just addressing it now? Ha.
    Nice professionalism. Very nice.
    We all know the truth. It’s been researched already when it happened.
    And after all that, I came to one conclusion.
    no respect (at all since they debuted)=snsd=epic fail.
  27. ^o^ says:
    i hope what they’re saying is true.
    even if they didn’t read it, the fans should understand that they’re very busy, not like some of the netizens [*ehem* elves protesting - only 13 *ehem*]
    and i bet 3/4 of dbsk fanletters ended in trash[or the recycle dump].
    they don’t even have time to spend with their families, and the fans hoping that they’ll read the letters?
    huh, get a life
  28. Rawrr says:
    ew… they rummage through the bins HAHAHA
  29. cameron12 says:
    Now0anon that may be true but don’t make it obvious, shred the letters up therefore no one can take pictures of them.
  30. oy says:
    I know Super Junior don’t keep their letters either. I personally know a girl who was at the Super Junior’s concert and she overheard a staff member complaining about how the boys would throw away their fan letters and don’t even read them. Fangirls and fanboys (lol) need to face this fact. Your idol doesn’t give a shit about you. ;)
  31. Jillian says:
    This incident happen long time ago;
    SNSD didn’t trash it. The staff were cleaning & threw away the fan letter by accident ^^
  32. Sjei_Wqsm says:
    I somehow really doubt those who started hate SNSD because of such a stupid reason would place fan letters in a special room on a special wall and clean them time after time if they WERE SNSD. Because the group is busy enough, HOW can you even place those things for a long time???
    Try and understand people, really.
  33. Nena says:
    How do we even SEND them fanmail? ;D I’ve looked everywhere, but I can’t find the address, OR phone numbers. -.-’
