Kim Hyun Joong taking on the red, white and blue?
The newly minted Hallyu icon mentioned in a recent interview his intentions of going to the US. With regards to concrete details, Kim Hyun Joong is still in talks with DSP Entertainment but he has said that the company has given a green light. He is set to leave Korea for 6 months by summer, at the earliest.
While still tackling a packed BOF schedule and oncoming SS501 activities, the singer-actor has expressed hopes of returning to K-pop with a bang. Also harboring a 2-year dream to learn English, it was therefore feasible and timely to take a step overseas. In his time in the US, he will train under dance instructors to the stars – like Justin Timberlake and Usher – and juggle singing/vocal classes on the side.
Kim Hyun Joong’s had is heart set on this for years and has even said that he would go ahead as planned, at the expense of having to do round-a-bout trips to fulfill his SS501 schedules. These include the group’s Asia tour concerts starting in July.
Maybe at the end of his study trip we’ll hear less of that annoying “This is more than the present…” intro to their songs. And with his rising popularity, a tip in the scales of K-pop’s most favorable boybands?
In other KHJ news, it was reported that the hardworking star has also shown a filial side by splurging his recent paychecks on cosmetics for his mum. For fear of her stressful life as an apparel shop owner at the Dongdaemun market giving her wrinkles, he showered her with beauty products. Mrs Kim said in an interview that as he gave them to her, tears were welling up in his eyes.
Taken from the words of his Ssangchu half, maybe KHJ isn’t that type B of a person with an expressionless life after all.

In terms of SS501, while Hyun Joong is amazing as the leader and utterly gorgeous, I think someone like Kyu Jong or Hyung Joon would do a better job in America (they know English XD). We cannot deny his work ethic though…
Why are so many korean artists trying to make it in America when actual english speaking koreans are coming to KOREA? lol.
^^That’s because Korean Americans already know how hard it is for an asian to make it over here. It’s the Asians who actaully think they stand a chance in becoming a famous singer in the states. =_=
I wonder what he wants to do over here? I really can’t see him making it as a singer. As an actor…..well, he can’t act!
I thought he was more into the rock genre…I would wish to see him polish up skills like songwriting, arranging and instrument playing. But that’s just a wish…I still can’t see the boy as being a pop boyband member. Thanks for article.

I firmly believe he looks so much like Jin Akanishi of Kat-Tun… now he’s bringing the similarity further (Akanishi also left Japan and Kat-tun for 6 months to study english in US)

he spoke a few english lines in BOF’s recent episode… it sounded pretty good. he pronounced the words slowly but clearly. i think he’s got potential for learning english more fluently. he is just coming to the US for english study right? he’s not trying to debut here.

Personally, I am excited that he will be in the US.
There are so many Americans who teach English here in Korea. Why can’t he just hire one of them? I think that if he goes to America, then it’ll be a bit awkward to devote time to studying , immersing in the culture, and doing vocal lessons and dance lessons. I mean, he’s only one guy right? He’s gonna stretch himself too thin.
